Should I get an Accuracy international

Don't get

Spend money on something more useful - even a big double rifle then find a reason to use it in earnest

You will thank me as you research that big game hunt

Having grown up in Zimbabwe big game/ trophy hunting does not have a huge appeal to me, probably because they are not that good to eat! Although the double rifle idea is something I’ve thought of since parting with my .375 h&h.

If you have the money and inkling - buy

Having owned Aw, Ax weapons and used both for stalking / contract work they are capable and perfect for holding zero in any conditions

However - weight is the issue , especially if you are using the rifle for long periods - 17lb scoped would be the average weight with a 4-16 pm11 and lighter weight mod

I used mine quite effectively for several years - then saw the light, sold and built a far lighter but equally effective killing tool which I use today

Had I the inclination, I’d put the ATX action into a PSE e tac ans appropriate bottom metal but I honestly can’t be bothered - so bought a PGW Coyote Action instead and did just that

Perfect culling rifle, accurate as hell, robust and lightweight

You can easily do similar to a T3 and make similar - just as effective and accurate - not quite as robust an action but I guess you won’t need it for dropping out of an aircraft into a stalking area 😀

Half the cost of the AI bit just as much fun - built a heap for guys wanting accuracy, weight , portability and modest budget

Andy, would you post up a photograph of the Coyote actioned rifle please, I would like a gander at it :thumb:

For info I’ve now bushed the firing pin so its small diameter

Shoots tiny holes groups with developed load 130 Berger (target) 120 pro hunter / 95 g GS Custom (deer depending on restrictions of area worked ) and perfect for multiple cycles on deer

Rifle now wears a 4-16 pm11 and barrel painted to similar colour of stock

Cheers Andy, I just looked at the write-up and the photographs, you made a nice job of that  :tiphat:

Superb action and other components - really solid rifle

If I ever build another 338 for myself I’d try and do it on a Timberwolf Action (basically enlarged version of the coyote)

If you want one go for it and you won’t be disappointed in how it performs and the build quality/robustness of the design - it’s an AI, not many manufacturers can claim their off the shelf rifles are battle proven.

Much has already been said but my tuppence is as for a lowland/woodland stalking I reach for other rifles every time.

I take mine on the hill and as long as you can be bothered lugging it about it’s in its element as that’s what environment they are designed for.

However....... when you’ve boofed some reds and have to drag them about a bit to get the Argo in you all of a sudden start to question why you didn’t select the next rifle in the cabinet and realise your not half your age anymore, of course this isn’t a problem if you’ve a ghillie for these types of occasions!!

If you do get one put a Z-Aim sling or whatever they’re called on it as it is the only one I’ve found to hold it well due to the weight (the Niggeloh isn’t as good).

Check the reality of the spec ie weight, trigger, stock fit. This really means playing with someone's AI.

If you like it go for it. They seem to hold their value well.

My “stalking rifle” is a sako 75 6.5 creedmoor. It does double for a bit of range work. Shoots hole in hole. Weight 11lb 6oz with full mag mod, atlas cal bipod and vortex razor AMG 6-24 on the wife’s kitchen scales. If I get an AI it would be to take over from my other sako 75 6.5x47 which weighs in at an impressive 18lb in current set up and my bergara 300wm and possible sako 75 223.
