Loctite 243

Not too sure if I'm going nuts or not (possibly the former?) but I bought some Loctite as my last bottle had run out, it was off the Bay, and allegedly a UK seller.

Over 2 weeks later it arrived today. As can be seen, from China! Not only that but I'm sure my last bottle which was the same size as the one that arrived today had way more product inside, this is almost empty!

For the size you'd think they'd be more in there? Am I going nuts or is this size bottle normal for 50ml worth of product? 20200511_142935.webp

Pretty sure most of the Loctite on ebay is fake. You can generally tell by the prices. Buy from one of the online bearings distributors instead.
Kind regards,
Carl

does 243 work with a 308? :p

Recon the bottle is 100ml volume but only 50ml inside. Glue hardens if no air is present that is why it can't be full.

cheers for the replies. That's why I looked for a UK seller. Looks like it may be £8 down the pan then.

Henkel are the producers of the "real" deal but looking at the label are they having their product made under license in China?

Try it out , you have nothing to loose . Like most things there are only a few manufacturers that make the stuff and they sell it to others, which re labelled and re package then bumped up the price.
good luck mate

Halford's sell Granville Bearing Fit and Studlock. In February I did some repairs (tapping and then putting in threaded rod and grinding it to contour) on three holes some idiot had drilled through the receiver of a BSA Airsporter and it worked just as well as the standard Loctite I'd normally have used that it was substituted for.

I’ve been done as well 😠... never really looked that hard but now I have it’s exactly the same as the (@thebrunks video) Chinese product with yellow sticker but where his video says LOCTTLF mine has LOCTITE like @MW73 ’s image... when you take the top off it has the same thinner spout.

I’m fairly good at spotting the fakes but I never thought they be faking thread locker... but I guess why not?

Damn Chinese rubbish 🤬

Luckily I only used it for one job so far and wasn’t super critical. 😤

If you have a look at my photo of the label on the reverse of the bottle, you will see that it has Henkel Asia as an address, Henkel did in fact move their company to there. Now whether what I have is a genuine item or not I can't be sure, yes the label on the front is wonky but the bottle, address and product itself look OK. I'll try it tomorrow on a nut and bolt and see how well it works 24 hours later.

Oh...

Going to have to check mine in the morning - got to say that it has held a 30.06 rail on with no issues thus far.

...Looks like you may be stuck with it... :coat: IMG_2435.webp

If you're looking to keep it in Europe, try this, German, does same job.
