BASC AGM

Given the significant interest in BASC on this forum I thought forum members might be interested in the following update following BASC’s first ever online AGM this morning due to Covid-19.

BASC Council elections

Oliver McCullough was elected to the Northern Ireland seat; and Ann Mortimer and Al Gabriel were elected to the National seats.

You can watch recent interviews with Al, Ann and Oliver and all the other candidates on FieldsportsTV here:

Vice Presidents

Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP was elected a BASC Vice President.

Sir Geoffrey is the Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Shooting and Conservation and has played a key role in representing shooting and conservation interests in Westminster over the last ten years.

BASC Fighting Fund

BASC launched a new legal fighting fund that will make a significant contribution to promoting and protecting sustainable shooting and conservation in the UK.

The seven-figure fund will hold ring-fenced reserves that will enable the association to push forward with proactive legal initiatives to secure the future of shooting.

In addition, it will enable BASC to launch effective defences to disruptive legal challenges that could negatively impact our community.

BASC chairman Eoghan Cameron said: “The fund, the first of its kind, will set BASC on a new path to promoting and protecting shooting, our community and the countryside.

“This fund will allow us to further our aims and lead from the front when presented with opportunities and when facing down legal challenges.

“We are already fighting legal cases in England and Wales and there are other potential cases in the wings.

“For shooting to be heard and represented effectively in court, it must have an ability to fund legal action. Thanks to the generosity of our members and sound financial management, BASC has the means to do so.”

Just look at them, all I can see is a bunch of Wasters, and that is being polite. :old:

I AM A BASC BASHER AND PROUD OF IT.
This means I am passionate about shooting and country life. And can see the sport I love slipping way. And the organization who is the voice of shooting DO NOTHING.
You have just said in the other thread that they are jumping on the Jack Charlton bandwagon............ make up your mind.

Don't worry chaps cause all the other organisations are pulling up trees to protect your sports 🤣🤣 when are people going to wake up and realise not one of them is proactive!!

So the voice of shooting is running a sawmill then?
I actually think I've said this before but for your benefit I'll repeat myself,
If you believe an advertisement slogan.....
Actually I may go look on the other organisations sites for a look at there slogans 🤣

Would prefer a slogger to a slogan
Totally agree with you, can you point me in the direction of one that's fighting...

The ridiculous variety of issues regarding medical on renewal/grant...

10 year certs...

Lead ban...

Wild game birds release...

Don't think I need to go on cause the majority of those will have you scratching ya head to find an organisation stating on their site they're on the job..

I am sure their will be plenty of good people to fight the Jack Charlton's battle eg all the Leeds fans that live in the York area. We are on a shooting forum and BASC is a organization that should look after the shooting community. EG medical letters for fc SGC basc insurance. Lead. need I say any more. Smoke and mirrors.

@terrier1 , I would rather they said something about JC than not say anything, and I do think they are sticking up for SOME of the shooting community, unfortunately most of us, if not all of us on here don't fall into that category.

Feel free to get in touch with me directly. I would very much appreciate a chat over the phone to discuss further.

So I have had a really good conversation with the BASC Finance director after my large email last week. She called me and was very nice and she did explain some of the decisions taken by BASC. However that email was also sent to you Mr O’Gorman and you have not bothered to reply!!!! BASC are so far removed from what most shooting people want it’s frankly alarming. What she did say is that they are losing members quite quickly hence my phone call from her.

We are receiving huge support from fellow shooters on the campaign to hold Cllr Dave Taylor to account. We will continue to work on this.
