Hi Admin,
Quick one has the webpage recently had its titles changed as this week at work our Web provider has listed the site as selling weapons and bombs!. And refuses to let me access the site?. I've been in touch with my company IT bods but not holding out much hope on a response!.
Cheers

My work Internet provider is the same, anti gun, anti fieldsports, everything. Unless it has a snowflake in its web address it won't load

Which providers are those?

Which ones should we avoid please?

My workplace uses O2

I'm not tech savvy but I think the company will dictate certain restrictions to avoid potential customer seen websites. Years ago we had a lad looking at Islamic State style things and that caused a head spin that I can tell you!

Vodafone mobile has age restrictions on SD, via work so use private mobile.

Working as an ecologist, RSPB and similar were banded, little birds with blue/great etc etc t#ts.

Absolutely true on the first count. You shouldn't be accessing SD while at work.
Most in-house networks are monitored to stop browsing on paedophilia, porn, etc.
It's easy enough to identify the device & staff doing it.
Watch yourself.

I suppose it was only a matter of time. SD was one of the few sites made it past the companies internet useage nanny state crap, could get it when all else was linked to guns.

The issue in question is that somebody is making moral decisions on legitimate leisure pursuits. For example, this fellow, like many others on here, is away from home for long periods of time due to the nature of his employment. It is deemed permissible for him to browse the internet in his time off using company provided network. Fair enough, HamstirX etc is off limits, but it's not right to ban websites that relate to 100% legitimate leisure pusuits.

Been down the same road before, zero response from the IT gimps. Try a VPN app on your device perhaps ?

I don't think your argument makes much sense.
Wa*king's a 100% legitimate leisure pursuit.

I think its more about the excessive use of bandwidth. Strange really, as the offshore industry is chock full of absolute w*nkers.

Most corporate company's IT section will add in blockers so you cant bring in any nasty little bugs from the off site browsers that you should not be surfing at work , my last Corporate company Virgin ( W**kers ) there IT dept would send HR a packet and then they would get all overcome with self importance and fluff up and demand you attend there office for a grilling ? only to fine out we had to test all the servers and web pages for our customers as i worked in Net-Opps  . Best not to let your IT see what your doing it only takes one Tasser to get all bent and use you to climb the ladder and get you sacked ? Play smart use your phone / tablet but use there wi-fi :norty:

🤣🤣🤣 May well do are you working for an offshore oil company starting in T ending in P?

I wouldn't mind but I've been able to get on no problem up until last week!. So just thought I'd ask in case SD had changed servers,

Perversely, that would work to restore access but only for a while until the next update.
There are umpteen ways of finding the IP address (IPV6 number) of a website address.
Even Google will get this for you (in a long-winded way) if you just add the suffix /ip address to whatever site URL is shown on the command line - ergo ...

Thestalkingdirectory : The Stalking Directory

The IPV6 address is added to a malware blocklist referenced by whatever comms software your employer happens to use.
These lists can be edited (if IT can be arsed) and work in the same way as Adblocker, I think.
The TSD address is not on the list below, which is just an illustration, but it's evidently on others.

Downloadable Lists

Using a VPN, if it's any good at all, may limit some content from TSD and you could run into CAPTCHA checks.;)

I remember our ship heading into Malaysian waters, I could get numerous porn websites but couldn't access my virgin email address!!!
