Present for someone since they lost the last Bear Grylls knife I bought them.
Anyone any firm ideas please ?
It needs to fold, hold an edge, be visible and 4" .

EKA Swede 10 Orange, 736608 marketed by Casstrom I think, Pocket folding, Orange sure grip handle, hole on handle for lanyard, comes with a sheath with a ten year guarantee.
Keeps it's edge quite well, the sheath is rather unusual and made to carry it in the folded position so I have bought a leather sheath from E Bay and now have the choice of carrying it on my belt in the normal fashion or folded in it's dedicated sheath.
Really pleased with mine and for the money too, at just under £50,but shop around, I found them a little less so bought another with the black handle.

“Ranger Grip 71 Gardener” by Victorinox. Good blade and saw, and really practical ‘scissors’ (not quite secateurs).

Just an option:

Regards, S.

Silky Pocketboy, useful folding saw with replaceable blade, and a decent lanyard hole, (hint hint) so he doesn't need the 'replaceable handle' too!

+1 for EKA, had similar model for many years. Watched a friend drop it one day when he borrowed it and when trying to pick it up tread on the lanyard at the same time. Nasty cut but he should have bought his own knife. Doh.

Is it as a safety knife for climbing??

If so I think they recommend a serrated edge to cut any ropes/webbing quickier in an emergency, or atleast they used to when I done my ticket many moons ago.

I always just carry an opinel, I do spray them and everything I can with luminous tree marking paint but in all honesty it runs off to quickly.

Must admit they do the job and ur not to upset if u do actually lose it.

And another vote for the EKA I have one and the swing blade EKA well built and hold an edge

Buck 750 redpoint.
Large hanging loop.
Can be had in bright yellow.
50/50 blade for meat or rope.
A great feature is the lock works both ways, locked open or locked folding.

Even includes a bottle opener for thirsty work ;) 👍

Good knife, nice in the hand and at a sensible price point.

What he said. If it's a safety knife it needs to have serration and ideally one handed opening.

Spoil them - buy them a Spyderco Atlantic Salt with a yellow handle.

High vis, serrated blade, great steel, sharp out of the box, lanyard hole, one-handed opening, indestructible.....
