GPS Collar Recommendations

Do you put a Bellman on the teckels as well? Thinking about putting the two collars on a couple of ours, just to be on the safe side.
I keep the Teckels on the lead when out with the hounds I only enter one dog if I let them run with the hounds or lurchers they’d be to ground all the time and in some places where I’d never intentionally enter one so until needed they stay on the couple’s

Makes sense. As mine were never intended for earth work and never encouraged only one goes to ground (as she sloped off and self entered at 8 months). That has restricted her 'off lead' time a lot but I might start putting a Garmin and a B&F on her and give her more freedom.

Dogtrace X20

40hr battery life.
9 dogs to 20km range and has a whole host of functions such as creating a fence radius around your hunting area which alarms you if a dog has left the area.

It has a function which tells you if your dog is holding an animal at bay.

Honestly it's absolutely superb and I have been using mine for the last 5 years. I would be lost without it.

Best thing is it's fully legal. If you import a Garmin the military can send you an update which knocks out your whole system.

This is impossible with the Dogtrace X20 units.

It's a shame that Dogtrace don't do a mini-sized collar.

Crap they don’t send you an update, on the newer systems garmin sends updates through all the time, it’s very simple if your running a bootlegged garmin don’t update it at all!

there is no mass shutdown as previously stated.

all the years I ran an Astro 320 I never got shut down or had any problems with it.

you have no idea what your talking about!

"Garmin are making it increasingly more difficult to use bootlegged units here in the U.K."..................Lee these are your words in the last Garmin thread titled -

Garmin Alpha 100 US + TT 15 US version in Europe (blocked radio).

Just needs a software downgrade!

and yes garmin are making things difficult, the military do not send updates out to block the unit, also my Astro 320 was a US Import.

What model of Garmin tracking system does everyone recommend? (Sorry should of asked this ages ago!)
Did you go with the garmin Lee ? I started with a Tractive collar but when there’s no phone signal you can’t find the dog so I use the garmin alpha 100 now
