jimbo123, sorry but I have been told the leasee does not want any local people on the syndicate, due to previous local members sitting on the place, not my idea so please no replies how crap that is ,:( like I said not my rules.

Yes Davie, not the first time it has happened to me, same message from Moffat last year. 60 miles is too close. Mind you I did pick up a good season on does cos the boys would not come up for any deer without horns. Forestry had to call us in. Depend whether deer income is more important than the trees,
Jim

Sad as lets get that wall built quick [/QUOTE]

What on gods earth does that mean "Sad as lets get that wall built quick" Do you ever read your replies before hitting the send button?

Think it is refering to the wall Hadran built in yorkshire when he said"here is where civilised England finishes:british:

Aye, the last thing you would want is a syndicate member who would use the ground

thanks for all the replies, all p.ms responded to, all details will be passed to the leasee, successful canidates will be contacted within a couple of week.
regards
HH

I think most good scots will understand my post and when some one says you are local keep away it really dose **** you off. Deer management should be done by people who are local and can get to the ground more than twice a year. I think a few thousand concrete block should keep the buggers out.:stir:

6 pointer, I appriecate your fruststration and I have seen both sides of the argument, but the leasee , who is a good friend and a gentleman, would not exclude anyone without good reason,it happens all over, not just scotland.
we get our cull with more than two visits a year,by very keen members, so we don't need people going through the woodland every day , which has what as happened in the past:dummy::british:

HH Dont you have any ground your side of the border and by the way i really couldnt give a monkeys some times i think your right , i wouldnt let some chap from england shire come on to my ground again been there done that and had more than my fingers burnt.;) But i am sure if you heard of a syndicate place next to were you live come up and were told you were to close you would not be happy.:british:

It is a shame when you are told you live too close. If i was the lease holder i wouldn't give a monkey's who was in as long as they held ,DSC1,DSC2, SNH fit and competent and held the BDS Deer Mangement Qualification. Oh, and not to mention the only insurance accepted was BASC. Apart from that anyone can join.

Fairly sure I know the ground. It is shot frequently by locals who do possess level 1 or 2, have no insurance, nor do they pay anything. That is the down side of any ground not being frequented regularly by those who do have the authority to shoot on the ground.

That's a really shitty attitude. You may consider him a gentleman but i for one don't. I consider this attitude discriminatory at best. How dare he assume that one stalker would automatically hog the ground and disregard the wishes of the other syndicate members purely on the grounds of where he lives.

Is it any wonder so many Scottish stalkers get narked off when they can't get near ground in their own areas due to English syndicates paying silly money yet disregarding the necessity to manage the land. How can you adequately manage it if visiting only a few visits a year (by your own admission)?

Now now lads, this happens up here all the time, why have we got a deer problem,Hmmmm,I wonder!
As 6p states, deer management, proper deer management should be conducted by someone local to the area, that way they get to know the ground in all seasons and weather conditions, otherwise, really it's lads just playing at it,taking a jolly to pictland!
I like that Gazza and for all we know this is what IS happening!
Answer to your question scotsgun, they can't manage it properly!
IE:15/20 roe off of 1200 hectares is not managing deer, especially if it's not hard shot, then again why should we bother,it's their deer, probably low body weights and I would hazard a guess at quite poor quality as well, reason, too many deer on ground:doh:

What an awful thread.

Jimbo replied within about ten minutes, obviously pleased that some ground had come up within a couple of hours from his house. The guy fits the stated criteria, and had his interest flung back at him because of where he lives.

It's the 21st century guys, and you can't look at someone the wrong way without being accused of discrimination.

HappyHunt, I suggest you advise your friend with no internet access to get online by next year - it's not fair asking someone else to put a post up, and then have to put up with the flak due to the silly conditions.

Ps. Good luck getting people to drive 300 miles to move highseats.

For goodness sake chaps - this is just market forces at work here. I'm fortunate enough to be a long time syndicate member in Galloway owned by Scots. All members are English. Why?: cos the North of the Border chaps don't want to pay the money we HAVE to, to get any stalking. Over the years we've had our share of poaching and Police involvement. You tell me: is it jealousy or just 'dog in a manger' syndrome.
It seems strange to us numpty Southerners that deer in Scotland are a major problem/pest in some areas; but if we want to come stalking, you give us a good old fashioned spanking with the costs.

For Gods sake lads lets just put this in perspective if a leasse decides he only wants people who travel from a certain distance thats his choice and his right its not discrimination its choice !!!
If and when his bag total is not reached the land owner will change who runs the control and management(thats the important word here) i have stalked all over southern scotland and the only problem i have had was guys travelling from the midlands staying for a week at a time and reporting they had taken 2 or 3 when they were caught with 11 roe hanging up cleaned and ready to cart back and as they travelled 208 miles to stalk they thought it was ok
Well if thats the case why tell lies on the bag taken
The local scottish lads were respecfull truthfull and we always kept in touch and never had any issues at all, we knew when and who was on the land at all times
lets just move on and let the guy who has the rights run it the way he thinks fit after all its his name and reputation on the line
