BOOTS!!!!!

Just ordered:
K
You should get about a year out of them before they begin to delaminate, I have on both my first and latest, last pair. Good light dry weather boots all the same, hence the second chance.

Well sorry to disappoint but the Lundhags have arrived and I very much doubt I’ll be returning them, they feel amazing! In a different league to what I’ve tried thus far. Early days, granted, but first impressions are very promising.
How was the sizing - true to the size you normally take or did you go one larger / smaller ?

I went with what I normally take in a walking boot, they’re roomy at the toe but as I said in a previous post, the lacing holds your heel back well and the room allows warm air to build up and circulate, they really are well thought out, and the felt insole they come with I was expecting to replace with better aftermarket ones but in reality they are fantastic and need no substitution.

I’ve just ordered pairs of Hanwag Banks SF Extra GTX, Tatra II Wide (leather lined), Yukon Wide (leather lined) and Canyon Wide GTX. Hoping I can find a summer and winter boot amongst them. Happy to answer questions on them when they arrive. Might be a rare opportunity to compare them against each other.

ive got Hanwag Brenner boots at the moment. Great boots and comfortable, but I suffer from compartment syndrome and high boots don’t help on prolonged outings

I shall look forward to reading your first impressions of the Lundhags. You made the right choice in my opinion .:thumb:

so a few weeks in and the love continues to grow. Daily 5 mile walks in the forest on and off tracks, stalking in frozen conditions (warm toasty feet) and generally just using them, they are becoming more comfy (not that they needed to) with every wear.
liberal treatments with mink oil have meant not a drop of moisture getting in, and yet being “unlined” my feet are breathing well and come out feeling totally dry to the touch.

I am wondering what took me so long to discover these boots.

The only fault i found with my Lundhag boots were that the laces over time put wear on the toungue of the boots. Especially when the leather gets considerably wet. Eventually wearing holes where the lace impacts on the boot (see image.1)
It pays to change your lacing technique occasionally. Or even put a piece of bike inner tube between lace and leather for protection. But still not bad going for a 17 year old boot. If you do damage your boots or excessively wear leather uppers or soles Lundhag can repair them. They did mine..:thumb:

Can’t see past my Le Chameau Muflon boots, about 10 years old and still water tight, warm and comfortable.

I do regularly clean and polish them which I think helps.

regards,
Gixer

The Le chameau Muflon boots i had never made it through two seasons of shooting. Mind i never cleaned them and i never treated the leather.
It was inevitable that the leather cracked, gortex leaked and rubber rand peeled away from the uppers. They made my feet sweat in hot weather and didn't perform too well in cold weather.
Id love to see a picture of them when they reach 17 years old.. Good hunting :thumb:

Just realised them are nearer 12 years old!

I changed the laces to elasticated but other than that I just keep them polished now and again!

I would look at more army surplus boots,
I have recently bought some karrimor sf cold wet weather boots on flea bay ... brand new bidding for them for £55 ... best boots I have ever owned .. goretex lined . Wore them for the first time other month beating, done 14 miles in them and I would prefer them over my slippers, comfiest boots iv ever owned. Wet day with a knee high brook and with gaiters I remained dry .. have been looking for another pair but think they have been replaced with iturri

For the Lundhags try 'Addnature'. They're based in Germany, quick delivery if in stock.
They are so expensive. I had a pair of the military ones in the 80s. Managed to melt the rubber off the toe cap on a hexamine stove in a trench; heartbroken.

Buy once cry once? Maybe not if you melt them but when I think of how many others I’ve tried so far, if these do become “the ones” then it’ll be money well spent in my opinion.

Just looking at the OutNorth site. The photo you posted... which model is this? I can't seem to find them?

Bought my first pair from the NAAFI in '91and never regretted it. Never had wet or cold feet wearing them. Still use them as a reserve but the soles are like slick racing tyres now. That's why I've replaced them with another pair. Expensive, but if they last as long I reckon it'll work out at £10 a year.
