'Special Delivery, Guaranteed Next Day by 1pm'?

My arse. I sent my FAC off to an RFD on the 29th (against my better judgement, I may add!) To ensure it got there safely I paid a Kings ransom in postage of £6.70. A full 7 days later it STILL hasn't been delivered, and the tracking information hasn't even been updated. So my FAC with my personal details, address, and details of the firearms I possess is now floating about in the ether, waiting for some knucklehead mouth breather to get his finger out and do his job.

Am I alone in thinking this is utterly appalling service? No wonder Royal Mail don't have a contact number to allow you to speak directly with a human.

This is exactly why I consider the practice of posting your FAC all over the country to be a ridiculous idea. I'm fuming

One of the chaps on SD sent me some bullets which never arrived. He returned my cheque without hesitation and then took it up with Royal Mail.

They eventually gave him a book of stamps by way of compensation.

Mind you with 1st Class up from 76p to 85p and 2nd class up from 65p to 66p from 1st January 2021 that could now be worth something...

I had a similar problem with a variation near the beginning of the first lockdown. Took absolutely weeks to arrive. I had resolved to it being lost only for the delivery details to miraculously update.

That said, RM (Parcelforce) did come through for me when an RFD who were shipping a rifle I had bought from them to a local RFD (and so the rifle was on my FAC) sent it to the previous premises of the local RFD (who hadn't been there for years and the place was now a hairdressers or similar). The Parcelforce chap recognised the recipient and that the address was wrong, so he took it to the current address and it was delivered without issue (and only 1 day late). I can only imagine he realised what the contents probably were and used his noggin. Saved a lot of aggro as I was quite terrified at the prospect of calling the plod to tell them a rifle on my FAC had been delivered to the wrong address and was now missing...

It's appalling. I purchased a rifle online on the 28th, sent the RFD my FAC (at their stipulation) the following day so they could amend it and return it back to me prior to shipping the rifle. Now I'm in the position of the rifle being in transit, and having no idea where my FAC actually is. So I could potentially find myself in the position of having to pay the receiving RFD storage fees while I await a replacement FAC from Police Scotland, along with having to pay them a fee to replace it

I posted a letter with a cheque on the 2nd December. It was going from Perth to Auchterarder, a distance on some 16 miles. It still hasn't arrived. I could have walked there and delivered it myself, quicker. Hmmm

Have to say - I did the same last Friday, sent at 15:40 and the ship phoned me at 10am the next day to say they had it! From Aberdeenshire to Derby - I was impressed!

although the fact these shops are forced to have the actual FAC seems a joke! Not consistent with other parts of the country!

you should be able to claim back the cash for this.

regards,
Gixer
