My wife put a deposit down on a tikka t3x for me for Xmas which I went and picked uo yesterday,
Walked in told them the details all smiles checked over the rifle and moderator over the moon, asked for 2 boxes of ammunition again there were all smiles
But as soon as my fac ticket was filled out and I paid they literally just walked away and totally ignored me was putting the rifle away and it was as if I didn't exist
I tried to talk (nothing back)
After what my wife spent i will not be going back there again

That is one thing i can say about my local gun shop which i will name CS Sporting they are very polite and cant help you out enough even with after sales if you got a problem they will do what they can to help

Perhaps the guy was stone deaf. I don't understand what else you expected them to do, other than supply guns and ammunition to you, which disappointed you so much?
OP was clearly just questioning the basic civility (and customer service wisdom) of seeming to ignore him immediately active purchases stopped. He wasn’t commenting on the fact of being supplied with some kit, he was commenting on the manner of the interaction. Not a hard concept to understand.

I have to say that the 2 local RFD’s for me (Colin @ Grampian Guns and Steve @ Hunters Cabin) have always been friendly and helpful and chat way longer than the time I needed to purchase anything from them, been a couple of times just for a “nosey” and got great advice from them without even buying anything……..

I has definitely secured my business in the future - I always try to buy local and give back to those who help the shooting community in their area

Its not exclusive to gun shops, Good friend of mine went to buy a Rolls Royce got treated like something the dog had dragged in,After half an hour turned on his heel went off bought a McLaren then drove it round to the Rolls Royce Agent to show him the deal he missed out on.

Has the OP ever said if they were busy??

While it does seem odd and politeness costs nothing.

Possibly they were busy, under pressure or even had sh#t going on at home.
Everyone has bad days.

While it may leave a bad taste after dropping a load of cash.
If it previously always been a decent shop id be giving them a 2nd chance.
Not many decent 1s left
