I feel for you. RIP Jake.
We had to have Brocket, our cocker, put to sleep last Friday. He had a growth in his windpipe that was making breathing difficult, and at a month shy of his 14th birthday we didn’t want to put him through the trauma of an operation. His three siblings had all passed on some time ago, but he was still retrieving partridge last season and his nose was as good as ever. Interestingly he was “boss dog” until very recently, but as he deteriorated the two labs seemed to know. He was always a character….

It doesn’t matter how many times you go through it, it never gets any easier, and I still come down each morning expecting to see Brocket bringing me a shoe or a slipper.
