New 12 Micron thermal rifle scope made in the UK

Hi All,

We'll have another go at this...

This is a project we've been working on for getting on three years now and it is just this past week, where we finally assembled the first production units of our new T-Ceptor PRO thermal rifle scopes.

In this time we have been working with sub contractors, component suppliers and core manufacturers to develop the ultimate specification for a thermal rifle scope at the very pinnacle of current technological possibilities. The goal posts have been continually moving and it has only been in the past six months that development in the high resolution lens system required to get the best out of the 12 micron sensor and indeed the sensor itself have plateaued, enabling release of the product, that will be stable and current for quite some considerable time!

By combining a high resolution 55mm F1 lens with a very sensitive <40mK shutterless VOx thermal core we have achieved an IFOV of 21.8mm at 100m. This surpasses our previous 75mm 17 micron scopes (22.7mm) and indeed the latest 50mm 12 micron scopes (24mm). This detailed, high sensitivity output then digitally directly drives and upscales to the 1024x768 OLED display. The resulting image is the most detailed we have seen. With little or no pixellation, even at high zoom levels.

This is a really exciting product, all supported and put together right here in the UK at an extremely competitive price point.

More details are available on our website:

T-Ceptor Pro 55mm 384 12 Micron Rifle Scope

T-Ceptor Pro 55mm 640 12 Micron Rifle Scope

The first production run has all been sold, bar one unit retained for marketing purposes, but we have another production run scheduled to be complete within the next 2 weeks.

It fits well on the 'Space Gun'.

It's clear that some areas of the 'trade' aren't too happy with the release of this product, but lets keep things sensible positive and factual this time around. 👍

Cheers

Clive what mount do it come with and im thinking of upgrade my WT1 75-3 as i like the look of the 384 12 micron

Having received mine a few days ago all I can say is it is sensational. Far better than I had expected. More importantly I think it important to explain how I came to buy one. I spoke to Clive over Christmas, and attempted to buy one of his more expensive thermal units. He gave me some excellent advice about thermals, persuaded me not to buy one of his other units (for significantly more money) and very decently said to me to wait until this unit came out. He kept in regular contact and once built, I received it within 48 hrs. Not being very good Personally with technology, Clive was in contact at various times over the weekend to help me set it up. Simply amazing customer service...

To be clear I have absolutely no bias towards Clive Ward. I have never met him or owned one of his products before. I do however recognise the signs of exceptional customer service.

If your in Norfolk or Suffolk and considering one of these, feel free to make contact and once the lockdown is over you can look through mine if that helps...

Best

I do wish that things like this were available with a mount to fit directly to the Tikka rail.

To answer this and oxonhunter's previous question. The mount interface on the scope is compatible with Pulsar mounts so...

The scope can be ordered with any mount you wish (at a discount for the mount). We currently stock the QD112 Weaver/Picatinny mount and the Rusan QR Weaver/Picatinny mount...

However we can also supply the Innomount with models that will fit between the T-Ceptor PRO scope and T3 dovetails, Blaser, Sauer 404, CZ, Merkel, etc. They aren't options on the website yet so just drop us an e-mail for a scope / mount bundle price. This will give you the perfect mounting on these rifles, without having to add rails or adapters.

I think that's Tikka problem for making their rifles with a daft size dovetail rail.
if all their rifles came with a picatinny rail, life would be lot simpler.

I don't see it as daft at all. It's been used by Tikka for over 40 years and seems a very reliable fixture.

Perhaps that's the problem.
Scope mounting has completely changed in the last 40 years
Picatinny is now the de facto standard and rifle makers should recognise that fact.
I own 3 Tikka rifle and rate them very highly, but that doesn't mean they can't be improved.

I have thought this for years. You would hope that rifle manufacturers would adopt the picatinny rail as an universal standard.

Picatinny is a great standard interface. I have it on almost all of my rifles.

Picatinny is an external interface though, so increases mounting height. Dovetails in receivers are internal and reduce height which is ideal for electronic scopes.

With the T-Ceptor for instance, to mount it considerably lower, we would need to inset the mount behind the objective. We did this with the older, but much longer WT1. The downside was that some customers needed rear extended rails on the rifle and other scaffoldery to mount them.

The only way to alleviate this would be to make the scope an additional 150-200mm longer than it needed to be...also making the focus adjustment 150-200mm further away, ruining the ergonomics and rigidity of the scope. As it is now, every control can be reach from one position with either the firing or support hand.

We're just putting a package together for a customer with a T-Ceptor PRO 55-3 and Innomount that will directly and very neatly mount onto their keeper's T3 dovetails.

That will be a 'sublime' setup and certainly get the work done.

Currently considering a Thermion, how would this new item compare in price range Clive?
Hi finnbear270,

The 384 resolution 6-24(48)x magnification is £3600 and the 640 resolution 3.5-14(28)x is £5100.

In side by side tests they both completely eclipse the Pard SA45 in image quality and detail, and in another side by side test I found the image quality and detail of the Pard better than the Thermion XQ50.

Here is a short comparison video through them. Not the greatest subject matter, but you can see how they compare in terms of sensitivity and detail.

Here is also a short comparison with the know standard of a WT1 75-3. Again the T-Ceptor PRO shows better sensitivity and around 30% better image quality (when viewed directly through the devices).

I hope that helps.

Cheers

I have just finished zeroing mine, I can honestly say it’s without doubt the best thermal scope I have looked through and I have used the Thermion XP50 and XM50, the T-Ceptor 75-3 and 75-6 as well as having looked at a £14,000 75mm military spec scope. FEB284D8-B3AD-40A5-8987-50AF1D164A0F.webp
