Yes - done this as well.Flatten the end of the empty cartridge case with a stone and use it to gralloch the beast.
What is it?Not legal EDC granted being fixed but this arrived in the post today as a bit of a folly. Dinky wee thing, terrible out of the box sharpness but I was expecting as much from reviews, sharpened up a treat on the lansky, I actually think it could be a very handy little addition!
I had one of those when I worked on the farm back in the 60's. I was told the spike was for getting boy scouts out of horses hoves.View attachment 194058
The only non locking or non rigid knife that I own. It's a British army clasp knife dated 1952 and bought for me by my father in about 1971/1972. It replaced a similar knife that he bought for me two years previously from an army surplus store for five bob but he damaged that one cutting steel tent poles out in the bush in a situation where that was the only tool available.
I carried that knife every day through my school days and the first couple of years of employment. I hardly use it now but keep it in my emergency tool kit in the car. 69 years old an still going strong, that's British quality for you.
A brilliant knife. It had to be the version with the marlin spike because he was an airborne engineer.
The tang also opens tins of paint quite nicely!I'm a big fan of the Svord mini peasant.
Mine still going strong after many years. Only mod I have done is to adjust it into more of a drop point.

The tang when folded can be a bit annoying, but it's worth it for the one handed opening (when you master the knack) and near fixed blade stability. Two screws has it apart for cleaning. Tang can also be used as a striker while it's closed as well if you are into that sort of caper.
Comes up a treat on the Ken Onion WS too.
Cheers
