Lab with gungy eyes

Good morning everyone, my Lab bitch has developed Gungy eyes, especially first thing in the morning. It is really thick and yellow. Can anyone recommend the route to follow ,without going to the vets ,many thanks Chris.

Have you tried gently wiping around the eye 2 or 3 times a day with cotton wool soaked in salt water (careful not to rub it in the eye itself). A vet recommended this to me once as a possible home remedy for some eye problems.

Sounds like conjunctivitis. My spaniel and BMH has a bit a while back. Bathe in salt water a few times a day.

Took about a week to clear up completely

If it's just gunge, both eyes, no redness on the white, and he'd not blinking a lot, then salt water bathe to remove the goo is fine. Otherwise it needs checking. If they are still gungy in 2/3 days, it needs checking. I have a low threshold with eyes
Golden eye will do no harm, becuase it will have no more effect than the salt water

Completely agree. Cold tea recommended by my vet - did the trick every time
