Afternoon guys,

I have been considering making the jump to thermal recently and being reading thing here and there as you do. Looking for some input and folks views between Pulsar Axion XM30S Thermal Monocular & Guide TrackIR 35mm 400x300 17um 50mk WIFI Thermal Imager Monocular. I have seen a number of videos showing the footage from the Guide TrackerIR 35mm and find it very impressive. I have not had the chance to use either of the two in person. Anyone got any views on what they would select from the two and why?
 
Had my pulsar xm30s 6 months now. Absolutely brilliant for the money and perfect in the hand and fits in your pocket. Havn't used the guide but research told me to go with Pulsar
 
Following....very much on my thoughts too at this time of year as lambing is almost upon us and Charlie will be on the prowl!
 
The Guide out to 100yds will look a better overall image than an Axion key XM30 or XM30S , and have a wider field of view due to having a 400 resolution 17 micron sensor VS 320 resolution 12 micron , after this distance the 12 micron 320 crop sensor has a greater detection range.

Both units are more than capable and both have benefits. The Axion being super small and compact with replaceable batteries, the Guide offers nicer up close image and better field of view with some nice features like Nature Mode and lots of control, HMDI output and a great WIFI/APP option, etc..

For the money you can't go wrong really with either..

I can see me flipping a coin on this one. Although the longer I look at it and leave it the more I start thinking another pay day has passed and the XQ38 calls out to me.
 
Same quandary as me! Need something for fox spotting as far as possible but want a clear image not a fuzzy blob. Used xm30s but wasn’t a fan, image was great upto 200 but past that it wasn’t great. Tried adjusting focus and image type but didn’t really help.

I’m wanting one for foxing as well. Try and catch out the lamp shy buggers that are about on some of the ground I have.

I had my mind made up on pulsar helion having used a friends unit.
Then found guide on your website and researched it and now confused.
 
The trouble is it's a changing and developing market, so whatever you buy will be decidedly "last year" in no time at all.
I have the Axion xm30s and am delighted with it. The only slight drawback for me is a slightly narrow field of view (really not an issue for foxing but can be a bit compromised for woodland stalking).
Whatever you buy will be a game changer.

I recently bought the Guied 25mm off Ian of Blackwood out doors . I haven't any experience with thermal,but this unit is such a game changer . We now go lamping with no lamp it's very good

This is a photo of cows taken through my phone just stuffed in the eye piece, doesn’t look spectacular but the tell is to look at the top right of the screen and how blurred the word scan is, you can barely read it, you’ll appreciate looking through with the naked eye the whole image is much more defined and immersive. No wild claims on distance, it’s confirmed on the screen and if a fox popped out of that wood and moved along I’d be able to say with certainty it’s Charlie in that particular scenario.
Obviously terrain and conditions dictate but the XQ38LRF is a significant upgrade to the Key imho.
