Joe biden

The Americans just had the choice of some extremely left-wing candidates. To call Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and fellow travellers "right of centre" by European standards is a stretch. Even a Biden administration (and who thinks he can really go on for the full term when he can't manage the basic dutues from the start?) has some pretty lefty aspects.
The difference between Communism and Socialism is not wide. Maybe Americans pay more attention to the words used e.g. NSozialisticheDAP and USSocialistR.
While both those words would be a great score in scrabble you’ll find they are not actually words in the Oxford English Dictionary so paying more attention to them won’t really help you. President Biden, got a real ring to it now, it’s growing on me

Jeez, and I thought Americans were stupid and insular.

Politicians in America spend a year campaigning before they get elected, another year campaigning at the end and in between, there's maybe a couple of years to have a nice rest, visit another country or two and complain about how distrustful and dishonest their rivals or their family members are. It seems to me that either all politicians in the US are either corrupt or liars because they call each other corrupt when they aren't.

I often despair about the often truly awful politicians we have in the UK, but the US politicians knock them into a cocked hat. Anyone who blindly follows one politician or party needs a frontal lobotomy.

It now appears that one of the people most vociferously claiming that Bidens' election win was down to massive voting fraud due to voting machines with rigged software now says that nobody should have taken her claims seriously.
That's the kinda thing that can happen when you get sued for $1.3 billion

Cheers

I just wish I had $1.3 billion to get sued for

Watching Biden at his first press conference tonight Jesus wept he looked like a damn corpse and sounded about as useful as one.

I think Biden will get lots of flack during his tenure I am sure but the real background iand what fuelled by the largest turnout in modern times the “Actual issue” was Trump in or out, the fact that it was Biden was a sideshow, he was the “ best” the democrats fielded. After the votes were counted and the court cases and Supreme Courts had delivered their verdict the decision was Trump out. In summary it was Trump out far more than Biden in, ultimately you end up with the politicians you deserve as a nation

You've put your finger on an issue that most seem to miss . The US isn't a homogeneous nation , it never has been . Culturally and politically , it is as diverse as the EU , a point that most in the UK and Europe seem to be unaware of . There has always been political strife between different regions of the US , in Canada as well to be honest . In short , there will always be an intense dislike for any President , the Anti Trump , Anti Biden mentality is nothing new . So , in actuality , half got what they deserved lol . Objectively , their ( the US ) system is more equitable than the Canadian one . Our elections are decided before the western provincial polls close . There are more people ( seats ) in Quebec and Ontario than there are out here . Two provinces decide who our government will be . It's even entrenched in our electoral law , any new riding created in Canada must have a new corresponding riding created in Quebec , regardless of population . Trudeau didn't get a seat west of Manitoba , but he's our Prime Minister anyway . Did we deserve him ? Maybe , the truth is , we have very little say either way .
Ultimately , the sad truth is , whoever sits in the Oval Office has more to say about what happens in Canada than the current Canadian government . We don't get to vote for any politicians in the US , but we end up living with their policies . We don't deserve that , Democrat or Republican . From a Canadian point of view , there is no difference .
