An update...
i went to the range on Thursday to sort it before heading to scotland for the weekend. I had put penetrating oil on the screws through the week and Mike at the range had them out in a few minutes. I had graunched them in too tightly but they came out ok and I hadn’t completely ruined the heads when I stopped trying.
So a result then? Not quite. The rifle shot perfectly well last month, and I shot a buck with it and fired a few test shots too. Then put it into a shop to fit the butt pad Before fitting the new scope.
first few shots not even on the paper. Then a few scattered rounds hitting the target sideways! we tried various ammo, all the mechanics were correctly tightened, the bore was very fouled with copper but we got that cleaned and polished but it still wasn’t right.
So it was off to Scotland with the .243, and the stutzen will be dealt with in time. On a positive, I shot three bucks this weekend with the .243 and I’m beginning to think zero recoil, seeing the shot strike and not blasting ones ears is the way forward, but it’s an ugly thing. Perhaps I’m a bit shallow for caring?
