What is different is that the trialler or fancier 'plans' to run-on more than one. The trialler or fancier often has a list of homes ready to recieve dogs from them as they know anything worth running on is better than average.

I ask you...where is the planning in this situation?

Makes no difference to the dog either way though. None of us can plan for real life. Injuries, illness, redundancy, divorce, death. Life can kick us all down. The dog will be just fine because they don't share the same emotions as humans.

But would you buy a dog because you have broken your leg and don’t have to go in to work for 6 weeks? You still have to go back and the likelihood is that these people are essentially doing the same thing.

death, divorce etc are pretty unforeseeable (or at least difficult to put a date on) - going back to work is pretty inevitable.

I have no issue with people selling dogs, the dog doesn’t really care despite what people may think but - idiots owning dogs is annoying

Sadly there are no laws against idiots owning dogs, anymore than there are preventing idiots and wasters becoming parents to multiple children.

I said it from the start, people used to drop dogs off to the dog pound when they cost £100 ... but I can’t see people wanting to take the same hit on a dog they paid £3000+ for ...

Hence there will be lots up for sale like this.

Hey Baguio, do you really think a dog won't pine for the people it grew up with? Most folks around working dogs have seen a dog that recognises a former 'owner' years down the line and it ain't pretty seeing it's reaction.
Not the same reaction yes, but no less of a connection.
Hopefully any dog goes onto a better place.
Usually good dog folks can work with a few faults in a dog, we are adaptable, and no doubt have a few faults ourselves.
We are not better than dogs bud.

People get all caught up in the romance of thinking they have some sort of magical connection with their pet.

I’ve seen good trainers take dogs off lads who can’t get it to do as it’s told and have the dog listening to every word the trainer says after about 5 minutes, simply from their manner and consistency within a few minutes.

I’ve seen dogs go off and work for someone else after very little time with someone else.

A dog might recognise someone it knows from the past when it sees them alright but what about when it don’t see them? As most rehomed dogs won’t?

Yes,my daughter took my young dog home at 8 weeks,had him for 10 months then asked me if I wanted him back...NO! I didnt want a "daughter with three kids raised dog" anywhere near me. His litter bro was killed by a snake and I thought for a week about it and finally said 'yes'

He pines for absolutely nothing at all in his previous life as his life here is a daily up the back hunting all sorts and so far he has had foxes,cats,wild dogs,deer as scalps for his life today.
About all he would miss is the neighbours chooks that he jumped the fence and killed while with my daughter.
She comes back here and he wouldn't know her from a bar of soap,he lives and breathes for me.

In the village we live in I've met 3 inhabitants who have 'rescued' Romanian dogs during lockdown. Apparently the annual figure for dogs imported from Romania is around 40,000!

We are all entitled to our own opinion and...It makes a difference to me. My post did not intimate that the dog would have a terrible life. My point was that the quality of the home should be more important than getting a return on your money. I am more than happy if we have different opinions on that and have no desire to change your opinion...Nor to change mine.

We seem to be taking the moral high ground on this forum and I agree the whole dogs for profit during the pandemic has been quite frankly disgusting, however take a look in our very own dogs for sale section on here, usually full of decent dogs of varying ages for fair prices. Now during the pandemic this section of the forum has been unnaturally quiet, have the sellers of the dogs decided not to sell with the current conditions or have they found a more lucrative market elsewhere.

Probably avoiding sites like this because you instantly get an outpouring of accusations you are greedy and are doing bad by dogs because they are selling for more than they used to.

Greed works both ways, one of you has the money in their pocket, is the greedy one the person selling goods to get the money or the person who wants the goods but also wants the money in their pocket?
