Same idiots couldn't enforce the covid UK wide rules about no households mixing, travelling etc but throw a load of money at a law that doesn't existApparently Oxford Council are going to ban smoking outdoors, throughout the city, and are authorising Council Wardens to give out tickets for anyone caught.
Although I am not a smoker, I do think that we are now seeing a reduction in our freedoms, I would imagine that smokers get some relief from smoking, and although dangerous to health no doubt is beneficial in stress relief etc, and I suppose it will have an ongoing effect on pub attendance , especially to those pubs that don't serve food, I mean you may as well stay at home with the beer from the supermarket and smoke at will.
Or american!Yep - got me going too! Obviously an older person’s interpretation........

Yes, but now nightclubs just smell of farts and boBest thing ever to happen was banning smoking in pubs as you can see the type of clientele before you go in.

No need to bring insects into this...Though I believe the etymology for the two meanings to be quite different.
I knew that term from reading James Herriot All Creatures Great and Small series of books, the rest of the rhyming slang baffles me. Google has information to quasi teach people who haven't learned and it helps not at all.The American SD members may wonder about this thread (a fag = in UK is the nickname for a cigarette).
We were all “new bugs” once!No need to bring insects into this...
