I am looking for a bit of information in regards to shooting boar in Italy.
One of my clients has a villa in Talla Italy and has a massive issue with boar, he's asked me if I would be interested in going over and shooting them a couple of times a year for him.

I have never been to Italy let alone know anything in regards to their laws in firearms/boar shooting, so was hoping that one of you guys might be able to provide some information on where to start.

A lot will depend on how big an area you want to cover. Personally I’ve never shot in Italy. If he has a huge problem sounds like nobody else shoots around his area

There is a completely different hunting system/culture in place in Italy compared to the UK so not sure about that nobody else shoots around there.
Also it's worth to note that only 1 "resident" sounder (even a smaller one) can make a huge mess in any particular area which provides good food source for them like lots of worms in the soil etc.
But certainly that opportunity will make Danny and his friends happy 😊
Nice area, nice people, nice wine and if there's some boar on top of that, I'm sure they will have a great time there!

Danny, it is not easy to be able to hunt in Italy coming from abroad through documents and bureaucratic procedures, then you have to see if the property falls in protected areas or in areas assigned to the hunter teams at the wild Boat, the hunting calendar for the suide goes from 1 November to 31 January excluding Tuesdays and Fridays and the other 5 days you can choose only three, you are advised to send an email to the hunting and agriculture department of the Tuscan region, they are courteous and respond quickly unlike other regional
Another solution if you are in huntable areas is to include some local members in the shooting as the locals are very jealous of their wild boars,
this roughly and the situation, if you have more details write me in mp and see if I can help you, I have a good knowledge of an armory in the area that could help you

So the hunting and agriculture department of the Tuscan is the best place to start.

The land is private and nobody hunts on it currently, if you are local to Talla then any help you can provide would be appreciated, it's always good to have a local on board.
Thank you
Danny

Unfortunately in Italy there is almost no private property for hunting purposes, as game is an unavailable asset of the state, so even if within a property even the owner cannot kill animals, the damages caused by animals are reimbursed by the state through the regions
I confirm that the first step is to contact the hunting and agriculture office of the Tuscany region located in Florence

Hello
Fabrizio
Hey Fabrizio and Danny,

Yes, i am a Selettore/Stalker in Italy, and this sounds correct. His local ATC (Agenzia Territoriali di Caccia), which would be his areas local state run organizor of hunters associated to that area, will then likely evaluate the situation and either send stalkers trained for this sort of hunt there, or, if necessary, cullers. The cullers are but hunters with further training, who also have extended rights with regards to how and at what time of day/night they can hunt the boar.

I arrived to Italy as an already licensed hunter from Denmark, and i had to redo my entire license from scratch to be integrated into the italian system. It is not a country that lends itself easily for foreigners to hunt its land. Not even private land, as the fauna is still non the less governed by the state and not the land owner, as Fabrizio alluded too.
As a rule i think only private hunting estates are exempt from this, but as i remember from the reading i had to for the hunters license here, they only constitute less than 3 or 4 per cent of the total huntable land mass of Italy.
But this is what i remember from my exam 3 years ago, so to be sure i do encourage your friend to talk to his local hunting and agricultural office, and hear what they say. 👍

Best Regards and weidmanssheil to you all,

Claus
