Davie- I would put a call in to Jim Archibald, SP FEO at Campbell Street, Hamilton and have a chat with him before you go down this route and waste money. I have yet to hear of an FEO in Scotland grant deer calibre rifles on the back of bought days. I had to prove that I had ground suitable for 308 before I got it and already had ground suitable for 243 for fox and deer.

Got to agree on this one Jim is a nice uy but will dig his heals when it comes to granting CF rifles .Christ i had a bother getting wild boar on my ticket.

If this is so then that could be that idea up in the air. But according to an email reply from pitt street on this matter booked stalking days count as permission for land also invites to stalk with others also count

There are plenty of chaps that only ever do paid days and they have no problem .But in strathclyde it is a bit differnt as there is no shortage of ground and the fo knows that. Contact the boys from himilton and see if they cant get you on a farm in your own area then its job done,

It depends entirely on your FEO, here in Fife bookings are all you need. It's sh1t I know, a lot of forces make up their own rules on the home office guidelines (section 13.10).

If you come from Sterling princess Fiona wants written permission from god himself!!!!

Davie they just change them to suit there own areas .Not much can be done but i am sure SACS BASC OR NGO Could help.

Love it, :tiphat: to princess Fiona, I have heard some stories,......

i love fiona!!! she is the best foa ive ever had,ive never been turned down for a gun or ammo increase/open ticket, she is a star. the other guy thou what a barsteward

Don't start me on her.. arrogant self-taught and obstructive.. she told me i couldn't have 2 rifles for the same job.. BASC firearms reckon she is the root cause of 50% of issues arising, one reason i hope they centralise the 8 forces.

RED-DOT your spot on, when i moved from Northern to Central, the hassle i had!!! She also told me i couldnt have two rifles of the same caliber for work.
When i told her i had sought legal advise - not a happy bunny. Acording to her its Norman at Northern that causes the problems!

Norman and Bob are pure gentlemen.. Fiona is trouble all the way.. i got interviewed by her boss to make sure i was not going to take her to the cleaners... she was shouting at me down the phone when i asked for a .243 moderated to work alongside my 22.250. She said you CAN'T have 2 rifles for one job but i told her about a fella i know with 5 rifles of the same calibre to punch paper.

Hi,

I'm from Motherwell bud, I had to go through Pitt street for mine, I tried to go down your route for a .222 & .243 and it got knocked back. I had written confirmation for two weeks at sika and three seperate days for roe and I was told this was not suitable even with my dsc level 1! I then had to go to a few various farms and got a signed line with no problem for vermin and deer:)

It might be worth your while to have a look at joining a syndicate in your area. This would be suitable reason to grant fac. You would have to call and explain your situation to the syndicate organiser, am sure as long as you paid the fee and got your name on it this would b sufficient and some are pretty reasonable price wise. Probably cheaper than a couple of weeks stalking!

It amazes me at the total lack of co ordination and inconsistancy throughout the whole of the UK with the grant or variation procedure for a FA certificate.

I have been helping a chap who at the moment is struggling to get a 243 on his ticket, when he already has an open ticket for a 222 which is legal for munty and CWD. I have to say that Kent has to a greater extent been very good.

However the whole bloody system is riddled with holes, and it is about time that someone in whitehall pulled their finger out and sorted this mess.

Gentlemen,

I have just got off the phone with JAYB. It appears that this thread has been picked up by the police and there has been some discussion with them regarding the comments in the thread.

You will find that JAYB has slightly altered a comment within the thread. I would hope that common sense within the currant guidelines that the police have to adhere to will prevail in this instance.

Thank you.

And if the FEO treats us a bit more like a customer and not a potential idiot we will all get along much better..
