Wanted: Goats in the Home Counties?

I don’t think there are any in Home Counties

Today, feral herds exist in Northumberland, Snowdonia, and the Black Mountains, as well as on Lundy Island. There are smaller groups in Somerset and on the Isle of Wight. Scotland has a larger population, most of them deep in the Highlands.[2] In 2007 ten goats were introduced to the East Weares part of the Isle of Portland, to control scrub.[7]
Don't think the national trust on the Isle of wight would be happy having their smelly brush cleaners shot

Depends where your CWD are.

These are a pain when your on a pheasant drive and the beaters push them through a block inadvertently.

I was meaning CWD round the area you mention. Walk into field. Spot CWD laying up. Wait for it to stand Shoot it

Except of course the Nature reserves around the river

Plus you can legally use thermal scopes in Englandshire on the glorified rats?

Goats... treated as an 'exotic' in the UK game shooting scene but in reality they have the urge of self-preservation not that far off a Lemming.

Considering the strong money some will pay to shoot them, I find it hilarious.

Their meat is very desirable among the African and Asian communities but unfortunately very little is done to get it to market. Carcasses are usually left out as carrion.

You can have a lot of fun shooting goats, and add to the challenge with ideas such as 'How far can you shoot one, offhand?' 'How many can you shoot in a minute?' and if they are in a high place, 'How long can you get them to go "Eeeeeeee! *THUMP*" for?'

All jolly good fun, bring lots of ammo.

As a man who has shot two (count them) goats, I think that, by virtue of the internet, I can now be classified as something of an expert on this...

Up on the Isles this year, it was interesting to hear about this. My host had had a query from an Asian chap in London, who expressed an interest in goat carcasses for a 'market' he had in London.

Long short. It came to naught.

In my vast experience, it is true that the carcasses were left out for the Eagles. The heads were taken and will, in their own good time, wend their way back down south of the Wall, and eventually adorn my Man Cave (right next to the air freshener). 🤢

Wait for it to stand??? I thought the challenge was head shooting them while they sat there? 😜
