I’d put the tyre on top of the manola lid though, it’ll stop the deer flipping it off and keep it on if the wind gets up.
Well, we are now three and a bit months on, from the very sensible advice you gave.
Since that time, I was given a wee bit of a budget, which allowed me to purchase the stands for all the Manolas, and I now have eighteen of these feeders scattered around the shoot.
It is fair to say, that I have suffered from these Manola feeders being knocked over by sheep (one particular field now emptied of them) and probable deer in a couple of spots and maybe the wind in one or two.
So, I have used all the 'base' tyres to be placed over the Manolas that they were were used as 'stands" and I will need to find another eight tyres to complete the set.
I phoned up a local tyre shop this morning and asked him if I can rock up tomorrow (when it is closed) and take away eight tyres.
"Take as many as you want. We have to pay to have then removed".
Well that was easier than I thought it was going to be.
I have taken the Manager's name, as I fully expect to be detained in the act tomorrow, hurling 'nicked tyres' into the back of my truck.
So do not think of this post as an 'update' - think of it more along the lines of my 'defence' to the local Bobby tomorrow.
