Deer on Golf Course

Having done it a few times, and then decided I couldn’t face all the risks, I’ve come to think golf courses might be actually a good context for bow hunting!

Anyone have any ideas how to stop deer coming out on a golf course or dealing with them on it?. Generally they only come out in the early hours of the morning and dont do too much damage but cause problems for the green keepers.
Extending Caberslash's contribution, lay out some form of attractant in a location that is safe and provides you with cover to wait for them to come in? Requires a lot of patience, but if you were able to find a number of locations it would significantly increase your chances and avoid the pitfalls of the general public being a nuisance. Am I correct in thinking that the deer are coming from the Wicklow mountains?

My ball speed with driver is around 170-175mph mark and the ball is just shy of 46grams.

I am pretty sure it would work if you put it in the right place but my accuracy might be a problem
What’s your handicap? You should be on the Tour…the average driver ball speed is 167 mph! Maybe your putting let’s you down 🤣🤣🤣

That’s top end good effort man. I went a long drive kick once bought the big stock did the speed training think highest I ever got up to was about 182. Had to hit about fifty balls to get one straight though hahaha.

I was watching some long drive worlds recently. It is insane what they produce. Ball speeds well north of 200mph is crazy. They do hit a fair few off the planet though. It looks good fun but I think it would break me. I am not 25 anymore.

No I am some distance from the Wicklow mountains. These are a resident herd that have been in the area for ages but are now growing in population and inhabiting the local farmland and by extension this golf course from time to time. If they were there all the time it might be easier to deal with them but alas that is not the case.

The reason I asked was; I listened to a radio article about 5/6 weeks ago, where drivers were commenting on the number of deer appearing on the M7 & M9 in Kildare and the increase vehicle collisions as a result. If they're a transient presence in your area then your work is really cut out for you. I wish you every success!

Not easy as many have said but its possible with support from the owners/grounds staff. Have found that a golfing buggy makes a very effective and deadly stalking vehicle, especially those with a split front windshield so you can thermal on the go. Useful for extraction too;)

Wait for another full lockdown (Sadly now not unthinkable!!!) then just shoot them when there are no golfers or people walking about. I control rabbits on a local course with only one official public footpath and shoot them with NV on an HMR and use Thermal Spotter and go out at lease 2 hours before very first light, even at that there are still people running with head torches and dog walkers with illuminated collars!!

The OP asks for help and advice and yet half the posts appear to be from people who either think that they're comedians or forget that this is a public forum and suggest breaking the law. Get a grip people! If you have nothing helpful to say...........................
