Been mad busy this year, most recently the second half of '21 working on a property I bought. Anyway,, late to be the night before last after completing some designs for the under floor heating, with a day on the flooring planned yesterday, with an early start, Woken at 4am by what sounded like a rat in the bathroom attic. On old stone buildings they'll climb and get anywhere. I rattled the ceiling and all went quiet. There was no way I was going to locate a trap at that time of the morning despite the destruction and danger a rat can cause.
So again last night, still had to do some drawings, and get them to suppliers, so got to bed late again at 12.40 No problem but I had to be up at 7 and get my jeep to a garage to bleed the clutch while I was away on a days game shooting. 1am..... the fricking rat was at it again. So I rattled the ceiling until all went quiet and vowed to get the traps set for tonight.
Came home this evening and went to my parents, next door, adjoining properties. Had to look for something out the back of the house, from a covered area that was originally a back yard. As I went out, I heard a noise from where he has some tools, chains saws amongst many other things. The area is adjacent to where I had rat troubles, so suspected that a large rat was moving between these 2 locations. I stopped what I was doing, grabbed a bit of bird seed and threw it down onto the yard in a position I could see from 12 yds away and left a dim light on.
Off to my place, air rifle and thermal in hand. Not more than 10 mins later, the f'ker popped his nose out a couple of times before giving me a chance. Best shot I've had all year
