Hi, I am just starting out on my Stalking journey, no qualifications or rifle as yet. I am looking to gain experience prior to qualifications. I am in the North Yorkshire area but travel all over for work. I have firearms experience. I would love the opportunity to shadow anybody on a stalk if they are willing. thanks for reading, Ben

You may want to go on a paid stalk or two to see if it is really a sport you want to get more involved in (and spend significant sums of money on). You will be able to use the estate rifle on the paid stalks. Keep the receipts as evidence for when/if you apply for an FAC.

You may want to look at joining a local target rifle club as well. If you get full membership, the club should support an application for an FAC.

If stalking is something you decide to do, book yourself on a DSC1 - plenty of providers around. This will give you a decent grounding in the required knowledge that is useful - but time spent out stalking is always better.

Welcome from London.

Morning, thanks for the reply. That's the plan. I have been looking for paid providers and have a few numbers lined up for the new year. I have booked DSC1 for March. I did approach local target clubs but they have enormous waiting times and after hundreds of hours target shooting anyway i'm not really wanting to go down that route. I used to bowhunt pigs in Australia and it was great fun. I have planned for a while to brush up on my French and do their hunting licence enabling me to get back out with the bow over there but in these interesting times it makes more sense for me to pursue a means to hunt domestically, hence stalking. Thanks again
