As I’ve said a thousand times don’t give up ANYTHING !!!! ….. there’s plenty of anti gun folk out there that’ll do that for you at the drop of a hat ….. Divided we stand United we fall !!!!

No why ban something that can be legally used for sport or pastime ... it is only the minority that use them for an unlawful activity... they are already breaking one law so all you do is make them break two! and you do not have to be in a club to put up a target... just have access to enough space for it to be safe to do so.... garden, field, farm whatever

in regards to all of the comments re walls of chester and the other welsh border towns... mostly these are false claims and lots off laws like this that really existed were repealed by a single act in i think the 90's

I was told it was actually 9 o'clock at night, not midnight.
"The idea that it may once have been allowed in Chester appears to arise from a reputed City Ordinance of 1403, passed in response to the Glyndwr Rising, and imposing a curfew on Welshmen in the city. However, it is not even clear that this Ordinance ever existed."

Ban these and whats next, slings/catapults or peashooters boomerangs, theres nothing more dangerous than some idiot with a gallon of petrol, always remember its not the weapon its who is holding it

Pea shooters are already illegal. The legislation banning blow pipes has seen to that.
Another prime example of unforeseen circumstances, or did they mean to include the humble pea shooter?

Take away guns they use knives. Make getting explosive’s and or the chemicals to make them harder. They use heavily laden vans instead.
With little effort and off the shelf items I could weaponise a fire extinguisher, it has been done before (where guns were hard to come by. The list of potential weapons is only limited. By the potential users imagination.
I agree that you can’t just ban everything as someone decides to misuse it. It is about time we had some common sense applied. Not yet more unenforceable legislation.

i couldnt agree more, and harder its getting for us shooters, My mate in his 70s who up until 2021 had no problems getting his FACs lost his wife last year i received a phone from gwent police asking all sorts of questions on his mental health due to his loss tougher its getting for us shooters and easier for the others (MAD)

A (possibly) metally ill person walks unchallenged around Winsor , outrage by politicians who demand action, meanwhile a few days later, two more teenagers lose their lives to stabbings , not heard of the proposed clamp down on knives

If we have much more of a clampdown on knives. Cooking and eating will become a licensable part of life.
Sarcasm aside what we need is a will to solve the problem. Unfortunately gang culture and whatever other problems (drugs, unemployment etc) are not being dealt with. It is not impossible but does it win votes? Because that seems to be what the headline grabbing “I’ve done something” brigade are about.

Just remember that most if not all of the arguments used for banning crossbows/ bows/catapults etc can just as easily be used to ban firearms.
there are more than enough laws out there to cover most situations where any weapon is misused and No i do not include the silly laws about welshmen and city / castle walls as these have all been repealed a number of years ago but takes most people a few decades to catch up

As has been pointed out above, you can kill someone with pretty much anything. Iron bars? Carbon dioxide? Cars? The list is endless.

As for crossbows, maybe 5 incidents in a year? Knives easily outweigh that. Cant see the resoning behind it, maybe there is none....

How many murders with crossbow in the last decade ? I can guarantee you its no place close to hammers. the hammer used to be the tool of choice till the kids dealing drugs and fighting over the territory to sell those drugs with other gangs pipped the hammer ! I think the hammer scared them because it was too similar to real work !
Licensing is a joke and always will be , look at stats for people driving without a valid license.
We have far more important things to fix in our nation than debating laws that will in the massive majority only effect law abiding decent folks .
