BrewDog - Anti Fieldsports Agenda???

Hmmm old news then. Just finishing off some of the Christmas booze then I think I'll give them a miss. Our local brews from 'Mauldons Brewery' certainly have no 'anti' element....quite the opposite ;)

I'm not so sure that they have an anti-element. Personally I think that they will align themselves in whichever direction is most likely to make them more money. By acquiring Kinrara Estate and promising to plant trees they were able to boast to the useful fools that support them that they are now carbon neutral, thus enhancing their green credentials. They would not want their new estate to engage in fieldsports because that may well alienate some of their useful fools, so they had no need for keepers. Laying off the keepers saved them a salary and allowed them to sell off their houses. I'm quite sure that if they had found that all of those who drank their pee-water were deer stalkers or grouse shooters they would have kept on the keepers.
Given their actions towards their own staff in the brewery, their aggressive self-promotion over the years and the events in Kinrara I feel that they are completely without morals and only care about the money.

Of course....the above is a balanced view but sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. If....BrewDog have made a donation to 'Wild Justice' then they sit fair and square in the anti camp. We have sat and silently accepted for way too long.

I once part-time keepered for a well known Cyder company in Suffolk who were inundated with sabotage threats - so much so that the shoot was stopped. There is no reason not to put the boot on the other foot and boycott those producers who favour the anti's

I would bet that I dislike BrewDog more than most, having follower their actions for several years because they are relatively local to me. I first heard of them just when they were setting up because the wife of a friend helped them through an enterprise trust. The more I saw the less I liked, and I am happy to let people know why I dislike them so much (see one of the previous BrewDog threads).
BrewDog say that the donation to Wild Justice was part of a competition where the winner could donate to a charity of their choice. It makes me wonder what would have happened if the charity was something supporting right wing politics or another charity that their woke idiot drinkers would not like. I'd be surprised if the T&Cs had been honoured in that case.
All that I can suggest is boycotting them and making sure as many people know the truth about them so that they boycott them too. Reply to their posts on Facebook, let people who drink their rubbish on YouTube know who they are supporting, etc. That is what I do already. It will get where it will hurt most - on their bottom line.

Plus one for never buying their tasteless rubbish again...... funnily enough Private Eye has had a couple of stories in the financial section over the years about how .....errr..... curious their finances have been managed and where the vast sums of money that flow through the company from their gullible backers end up. Always been interested to see how Brew Dog end up in the long run, will they crash and burn like so many other "wonder companies" or will they just become a corporate behemoth like all the other "ethical" companies who lose their way...
Sadly the evidence shows that some other large companies are going down the buy-an-estate-and-plant-trees-to make-us-look-good route - greenwashing at its finest!

"We want to show people there is an alternative to monolithic corporate beers, introduce them to a completely new approach to beer and elevate the status of beer in our culture."

James Watt can just f*ck off . . . . . .
A lass who is local to me is the Brewery Manager (what a great job!) for Fierce Beers. They do some nice beer and are not owned by nasty folk - and that is why a lot of their staff are ex-Brew Dog, who could not stand the culture there. There are great alternatives to monolithic corporate beers who are not BD

I came across him in Dundee's Overgate a few years ago when they were starting up. I found him cocksure, overbearing, and quite frankly a smug prick with an over-inflated sense of his own importance

James Watt of Brew Dog? Or Fierce Beer? James Watt is, IMO, a greedy chancer and always has been. According to my mates wife, who helped them set up, the other partner is a more pleasant person.

Yep, James Watt. A monumental prick of the highest order in my book

True story about James Watt.
He and his then wife (he's since left her and moved in with his boyfriend :) ) lived next to land that was keepered and I helped the keeper with vermin control.
We shot some rabbits in the field next to the Watts house one night (silenced 22s and subsonics, so no noise) and the following day the keeper went to the field to check in case we had not picked up every rabbit.
He was confronted by Mr Watt who was outraged at us shooting the poor rabbits.
When it was pointed out to him that the shooting occurred with the full permission of the land owner (the keepers boss and) he threatened to get the police involved.
Of course he was full of sh*t and nothing ever happened, but I think it illustrates where he stands on shooting

Cheers

Bruce

Welcome to craft beer, haha.

Stick to Polly, Verdant, North Brewing and Deya. You wont go wrong with those 4, some of the best best craft producers in the UK.

His wife the artist? She was too good for him. And are you serious that he has a boyfriend?
Yep, I knew his wifes dad reasonably well, and you're right she was too good for him
She's smart and will survive just fine without him
Serious about the boyfriend - a friends partner works in the Solicitors office that handled the purchase of Mr Watts new home in or around Tarland or Tarves.
His PA was handling the property search and purchase and everyone assumed it was her that he had left his wife for - but we were wrong, the new hoose was for him and his boyfriend

Cheers

Bruce
