I'm not sure the focus couldn't be improved as the mag was changed during that presentation.Very helpful thanks!!
ExcellentI'm sure you can shoot foxes at 250m with a thermion. Although when you get there it might be a cat or a badger![]()
I've had both of those thermals and the HIK Micro Thunder TQ50 is better than either and significantly cheaper than either.Up the game with a krypton and a ward75.
Did you try the krypton fxg50 a bushnell elite 6500. Its brilliant on my scopes up to 6mag or so.The HIK Micro Thunder 50 comes in 2 versions
The TQ50C includes the bits needed to make it into a front add-on (as well as a spotter and riflescope) RRP £3199
The TQ50 is the riflescope/spotter version and has an RRP of £2999
Hope that clears up the difference between the 2 modelsSearch results for: 'hik micro thunder 50mm 640px riflescope only special edition'

Seriously, if the person shooting cannot tell the difference then either the scope is rubbish or they need to give up.I'm sure you can shoot foxes at 250m with a thermion. Although when you get there it might be a cat or a badger![]()
I've had a Pulsar Krypton on several scopes including a Swarovski Z6i, Athlon Midas, Sightron STac etcDid you try the krypton fxg50 a bushnell elite 6500. Its brilliant on my scopes up to 6mag or so.
I always just stick the krypton on the front of the scope. Maybe next season i will get the hik tq50 and a set of accolade binoculars.I've had a Pulsar Krypton on several scopes including a Swarovski Z6i, Athlon Midas, Sightron STac etc
I've also owned a Bushnell 6500 Elite and it's a good scope for a rear add-on, and a front add-on, but front add-ons are not scope fussy and cheap scopes perform as well as expensive scopes because the scope is only looking at the display on the add-on.
The main rule for scopes used with front add-ons is that they should have a low base magnification
I sold my Krypton FXG50 in favour of the HIK TQ50C because:
a As a spotter, the HIK is far better than the Krypton with its monocular fitted (lower magnification, wider field of view and much less fussy eyebox)
b. I can use the HIK as a riflescope as well as a front add-on - the Krypton is basically just a front add-on that can be used as a spotter, but can never be a riflescope
c. In add-on mode, I preferred the image on the HIK rather than the Krypton
The main advantage of the Krypton over the HIK is that the Krypton can be changed from spotter to front add-on much more quickly than the HIK

Laugh as much as you want.I'm sure you can shoot foxes at 250m with a thermion. Although when you get there it might be a cat or a badger![]()
Perhaps you're judging me by your own mistakes & limitations? I Spot with my Helion XQ50 that I've used for in excess of 3 1/2yrs and so I've gained a good grasp of species recognition. If I'm unsure I simply don't shoot. As for shooting foxes at 250yds with my Thermion2 this is achievable and I've done so. I practice at that range with my small fox steel target, heated up.Laugh as much as you want.
Hi 3.5 mag.Laugh as much as you want.

Hi 3.5 mag.
I don't think anyone's knocking you or your choice of equipment or skill. If it works for you, then that's great.
I think this side by side picture of foxes that are probably at the same sort of distance, all things considered, through an XQ50 Thermion and a T-Ceptor PRO 55-3 highlights Steve's sentiment though.

I'm sure you'll agree that there is a massive difference in the detail of the target. Not just raw resolution, but also thermal graduation. You also need to bear in mind that the T-Ceptor PRO doesn't record through it's analogue out anywhere near in the quality seen on the display so these stills are well degraded.
To expand on this a little more:

The Fox on the right is 450 yards and is not massively far off the detail of the Fox on the left that is at least 300 yards closer!
They are very different scopes...but not massively different money.
Hopefully useful info.
Cheers
They're no doubt impressive Clive but at the time your 55-3 was another £1000 over the cost of my Thermion2, which admittedly was already a stretch for me but does all I need of it.
