As a society we have become soft.
My grandparents generation eked out their food to last the whole week, and wasting food was seen as something akin to a sin. Very often they didn’t know where the next meal was coming from, or when it might arrive.
Today, food waste is rife, with the UK alone estimated to throw away over 9.5 million tonnes of food every year. The population expects to be fed on demand, with exactly what they want to eat, and with minimal preparation. Ideally they will eat ready meals and takeaways!
It is little wonder that, in a society such as this, shooting for food is seen as unnecessary, and game as a food source is viewed with suspicion.
