People here processing a red quicker than I can do a roe
Oh dear. I just heard that this lot were filmed heading toward Norfolk!I’ve just finished the last red haunch, and given it to a mate of mine.
Thank christ for that!
Probably fill the larder with reds again this weekend
Thank god the season is nearly over, clean down forget about them for a few months and then do it all over again!

You got a dog named Fenton? Not far from my bit
I'm afraid you're going to need a bigger shed then Fred! A high seat in that roadside tree wouldn't go a miss aswell. Oh and plenty of copper .303's for the Bren gunNot far from my bit

The main herd is over 120 head, thats just hinds and calfs!I can almost hear the words of the stalker to his client:
"Take the 364th from the left when it's broadside on".
Keep at it you'll notice the difference eventually. It might take a few years of continued hard work and you'll miss them when they're gone. You'll probably find yourself enjoying your stalking more at that point though. The main herd is over 120 head, thats just hinds and calfs!
My land owner told me he saw over 90 last Friday evening, I’ve shot 22 hinds so far, i have the feeling im pi$$ing in the wind and getting wet legs
Err - do you deliver to NI perchance??I’ve just finished the last red haunch, and given it to a mate of mine.

Been at it 15 yearsKeep at it you'll notice the difference eventually. It might take a few years of continued hard work and you'll miss them when they're gone. You'll probably find yourself enjoying your stalking more at that point though.
If your main herd is 120 by the time you add up all the other groups you are definitely getting wet legsThe main herd is over 120 head, thats just hinds and calfs!

Relax my friend for I have a cunning plan. Deer are thin on the ground over here, sooooo just send your darling over, she and Mrs FB can talk about girlie things for a few weeks. I will come over to you, shoot the deer for you leaving you lots of time to do that nasty processing bit, simples,She has a great butt!
Ahh sorry you meant a dowry? might be able to stretch to a camel and a blazer R8 or a McMillan custom thing.
Let’s take this trade over to classifieds section before the mods bust us![]()
I do hope so thats for sure!Keep at it you'll notice the difference eventually. It might take a few years of continued hard work and you'll miss them when they're gone. You'll probably find yourself enjoying your stalking more at that point though.
Working on 120 hinds and calves, there's say 60 hinds and working on the debatable 50:50 calving ratio there'll be 30 hinds born each year. If the aim is to reduce the herd size noticeably, then about 20% above birth rate would be a safe minimum to be culled, so 36 hinds...If your main herd is 120 by the time you add up all the other groups you are definitely getting wet legs
I do not disagree in the slightest!Working on 120 hinds and calves, there's say 60 hinds and working on the debatable 50:50 calving ratio there'll be 30 hinds born each year. If the aim is to reduce the herd size noticeably, then about 20% above birth rate would be a safe minimum to be culled, so 36 hinds...
But realistically, if the landowner says he saw 90, it is most unlikely he saw all the deer in his patch... so the overall landscape herd is x times 90 and so the hinds will number significantly more than 60.
Have a look for this paper, published in 2020:
The scale-dependent effectiveness of wildlife management: A case study on British deer
Niccol`o Fattorini a,b,*, Sandro Lovari a,c, Peter Watson d,e, Rory Putman
It explains how crucial a co-operative and landscape scale method of management is the only way to population control - it is impossible to manage red & fallow just by working on one land-holding.
I am sorry that this is drifting away from the OP's subject but it is important to recognize that red and fallow are now beyond the power of individuals and are now a Government matter.
All the best

So let someone else do it then….It’s fine when you’re shooting one or two reds a month something like that, I’m shooting 6 to 10 a month give or take a few so forgive me if it becomes a tad of a chore
Shooting them is not the issue, its getting rid of the bloody things thats the chore! So let someone else do it then….
