Being a fred in a shed.

It’s fine when you’re shooting one or two reds a month something like that, I’m shooting 6 to 10 a month give or take a few so forgive me if it becomes a tad of a chore
Yep I’m a 5-6 roe one or 2 reds a month kind of guy but if I shot that many I’d sell them whole in the skin…

All these complaints about having to shoot so many deer, have I missed the post asking if anyone would like to come and help?
As am I, can support 24/7. We could do an SD cull day.
However I think the point is as he said earlier, it’s a very small ground with very hit or miss opportunities on the deer.

correct you hit them them their there hard, then you might not see them for three weeks, then you’re relying on your Trail cameras to do the homework for you find out when they’re there again and wallop him again hard and repeat.

i dont need help, i have 2 good friends who are more than killing their fair share!

Like i said before its getting rid of them and keeping the larder empty thats the problem!

Honestly all you lads who are there saying i can help, but really have no idea!

I stick Someone in a high seat, 8 red deer come out I want to see 5/6 on the deck not 1 or 2 leave as a few survivors as possible educate minimal amounts of deer, even better find the lead hind and if you can kill whole group!

Add the factor that is shooting a bit of ground of 250 acres 400m x 600m ish long and narrow, no room of errors or runners!

Like I said before I’ve got a small reliable network of killers and that’s exactly what they are killers we’re not deerstalkers we are killers anybody with big numbers of fallow or red deer for that matter will understand what I’m saying you have to be consistent at killing.

You shoot until your Mag is empty and then reload if you have time, and if they’re still on the field you keep shooting

Its not like nipping out for a roe or a muntjac, sling it in the roe sack on off you pop home, managing herd species is not a pretty business!

How refreshing to read of a professional approach to management.

I imagine the best help you could have is if the surrounding 5000 acres shared the same objective and followed the same lines.

All the best

In my experience, owning a small farm and having had and kicked off "stalkers" in the past there are plenty of people who like the idea of being able to do that but in reality they are either woefully incompetent, dishonest, lack the mentality or just lack the motivation to keep at it through the season rather than have a lie in.

People who can genuinely do what you describe are very few and very far between.

Try the surrounding 50,000 acres

Or actually the whole of East Anglia would be a start.
