Had the dog (Labrador) out for a walk Sunday two weeks ago on a common walking path. While she was mooching away in bushes beside the path within clear view of me.
She jumped down from the bushes into another bush closer to the path and yelped. She then came out limping and bleeding heavily. I looked into the bush just so I’d know what it was. Some absolutely dick had thrown a glass bottle in and broken it.
Turns out she severed the artery leading into her front paw and tendon to her middle toe.
Took off the t-shirt and wrapped her up. Got her back to the car and stemmed the bleeding using a first aid kit. About 40k from my local vet I decided to ring one in the local area, what a waist of time.
Got through to my own vet and he said just bring her straight over.
After a 3hr surgery he closed up the artery and wound.
She is now is left with less blood flow to the paw and a toe that just sticks out.
Two weeks later and she still has a bad limp, its just hope this goes away.
Energetic dog which I’m trying to limit walking and running so I’ve reverted to swimming as exercise.
Had anyone else ever experienced anything like this or can offer some advice around this area.
Regards
