Been speaking to a vet nurse that advised using these. She said the rep told her I will get 12 months out of them. She also said look on ebay to buy them cheaper. Anyone seen them cheaper than around £35.00 ? I'm struggling to get a better deal.

I doubt that 12 month figure. The normal fluctuations of parasite populations may give the impression it lasts for that time but it isn't the collar.

the cheapest year round cover is not to use anything and to pick off the ticks as they are nuisance and no more. The risk of Lyme in dogs is overplayed.

If you do get one keep the dog out of any watercourses

I had one on my dog this summer- worked well. Did not find any ticks on her. Stalking companions were finding ticks on themselves and their dogs in the same area. She did get a bit of an ear infection. Doubt that anything to do with the collar. So dog only wore collar 4 days a week and still worked- I was finding dog was scratching her neck a fair bit if collar on 24/7. . She is not used to wearing a collar full time.

I got two from pet drugs online cost £50 with free postage when you read the instructions it covers the dog for ticks for 8 month and fleas for 6 months

Get about 6 months from one on my lab. Normally know when it’s time to get a new one as he starts picking ticks up. Haven’t had any reactions to it or anything so it’s on him all the time now. Wouldn’t have him without as tried a few other things and done nothing and kept on picking ticks off him each night so much easier with the collar on.

Na..... I dont want to be in house having the increased risk of them moving over to me or family.....seen local woman life here wrecked by Lyme.....
If it stops them even anchoring on dog before they come i to house at all then a plus for me

Another reason id want tick minimised on a dog

Understood, but to reassure you, houses are usually too dry for them. In fairness I've not seen proper studies on this

Edit, >80% humidity is needed for off host survival.

I have used them on my last two springers on in March, off when in the sea,off in shooting season.
Never an itch or nibble.
Pets at Home were 37 quid l think.
