"The Smugglers Valley" Rimfire Match, Part 3!
Anyone with a .22LR bolt action rifle, with a 10 shot magazine can easily take part in this great discipline. Based on positional field style shooting and using a variety of supports, not only is PRS style of riflemanship fun, but also hugely beneficial to field shooting like stalking and foxing too!

The event is open to all FAC holders, and shooters of all abilities, genders, age and physiques are very welcome. We place an emphasis on helping out newcomers to the sport, and the event is very much an inclusive atmosphere.

This match is being held in at the beautifully maintained Budleigh TSC north range facility, in sunny Devon (TQ13 8SB).

Match fee of £50 for the day. Prize table and Raffle for all attendees.

STD 22LR ONLY, No HV Ammo.
Expect a round count of over 100rnds.

Looks like a right good craic and the kind of day out that would encourage newcomers to enter competitions, hope it goes well.

I can’t help feeling such matches with 22rf are the way to go. A course of 100 rds will cost £20 in ammo? (I haven’t purchased any 22rf since before lockdown). Even cheapest centrefire is going to cost considerably more than that.

Not easy

Quickest way I know to get brought down a peg or two

No sand back-stop so can't see a splash - so a miss is a miss with no feed back

So it can be ....

Miss, adjust and miss again - Bugger!

Now I know where to hold - too late time to move position and guess what?

Miss again !!

All part of the Fun John, in time you will find your positions that you build will become more stable, and that will allow you to spot the projectile “trace” and make corrections from that info. Especially if it’s as sunny as it’s supposed to be tomorrow!

Very happy to report that the match was a success!

The sun shone and the wind was a delight, not to mention the displays of great sportsmanship from fellow shooters. Huge congratulations to Ben McIlwaine and Jack Crawford for taking very well deserved 1st and 2nd places.

A little down on attendance numbers from the last event, but that is to be expected on mothers day.

For the next match, which will be held on Sunday, July the 31st (at the same venue TQ13 8SB), the organiser is offering a discount on entries for those who might like to bring along a friend or fellow shooter.

If you would like to shoot the friendly match, and bring along another shooter or refer them and they enter, your entry fee will be discounted by 10% to the event.

What makes this even better, is that you can stack discounts, if you bring/refer multiple shooters that enter. For example, if you brought 2 additional shooters, you would have 20% off, 3 for 30% and so on!
