Thread size on slim barrel

Question for those more knowledgeable than me. I have a slim barrel on a 22 hornet that I am considering getting threaded. The diameter is a bare 14 mm, would I have enough metal to get a half inch thread cut, or are there any other (better) options ?

The od for 1/2" unf will be under 0.500 or 12.7mm as no one will make it on the top dia for general fitting purposes.

There are no other options as m13 would be a special with no mod around to fit.

I'm can see a second coming in the 22 hornet as time goes by, looking at adding one myself in time, just such an awkward size bolt face and mag length to cater for.
I did wonder if the Howa mini action could cater for it, but its probably more work than its worth trying to convert, may as well just get one already made from CZ/Weihrauch/Annie, shame the mags are a little short for future bullet choice.

It’s already happened!

Loads of people have replaced HMRs with one of the hornets and they will come into their own if lead free becomes a requirement

As you say, 1/2x20 is about the only option (or 1/2x28). I suspect 95/100 threaded hornets are threaded at 1/2x20 though so no great loss

My Ruger 10/22 was threaded to 1/2 unf by the fitment of a TOP HAT bush.This was done for me in Haselmere gun shop,in the eighties, never had a problem and does'nt have a fore sight now either?
