Qualifications card

Perhaps they can start by making the BASC membership card plastic again instead of paper that you have to laminate.
More than that even, why not stick any qualifications on that membership card.
There you go BASC, bit of common sense from a member.

That didn't quite go to plan did it Tony...

We are not talking about the right and wrong on the DMQ program, but whether or not we should have a card with our qualifications on it.

I'm always pretty amazed in these days of traceability that no game dealer I have ever walked into has asked to see my PH certificate before they take a carcass from me. It's always on trust. I could write anything down. Personally I like it that way, but if we did reach the point where we had to produce proof of qualification to hand a carcass over then a card in the wallet would be more convenient than carrying the certificate around with me in the truck.

Can't see the need for it at the moment though.
I think I have a plastic card from when I took the GMH course. Never been asked for it however.

My biggest fear is that it could be used as mandatory to grant an FAC. And yes I am old with over 65 years shooting experience
Not sure it could be as you will have the actual certificates for the courses if the FEO wants to see them. They could not refuse a grant or renewal based on the fact you have not got them listed on a plastic card issued from a single organisation that has no formal government authority to regulate law or process.

That's getting way too far away from the provisions of the Firearms Acts. Why does the shooting community allow itself to be bullied in this way by FEOs & FLDs that make it up as they go along with requirements that parliament did not authorise in the legislation?

Because the majority of shooters are quite apathetic when it comes to defending their sport, add to the mix we have no formidable representation, and they can pretty much treat us as they wish
Add into that mix negative public perception driving policy, and that just about sums things up.
