fully agree.their attitude on the phone is disgraceful-they have no concept of customer relations-the chap I have talked to twice now-think it was Kolbe the boss.will not bother again.it's as if you should be grateful they are talking to you and what do you want to ask questions anyway.!!!.strangley I have a cut stainless barrel on my 22-250 which Steve Bowers had in stock and it shoots just o.k.starting a second semi custom build now and the barrel will be a Lothar Walther.regards all

i used most barrels shilen kreigers pac nors walthers trueflights bartleins broughtons ,and i now i use border cuts only on my own rifles they have been the most accurate barrels to date

Don't know which barrel would be best, but a tighter twist is usually required for heavier bullets, so probably 1-8 is appropriate. I'd say most of makes mentioned would probably be pretty eqal & would more than likely be capable of better than I am able to shoot, - with the right loads.Cheers.

theirs more to a accurate rifle than barrel make ,good ammo ,good shooter ie wind reading as well goood shot the wind easily blows bullets out of the group and gets blamed on bad rifle or barrels , bedding ,trigger ,straight chamber and concentric crown its only when all are good that you will get a realy accurate rifle ,out of all the barrels theirs not that much difference unless your shooting in world class events against the top shooters with all top built rifles
most rifles are way more accurate than the shooter

View attachment 7493View attachment 7494View attachment 7495View attachment 7496View attachment 7497I collected my old Tikka M595 .223, after a Border re-barrel through my RFD, at the local ranges this morning,I just got through fettling the free float space under the new profile,I had waited a couple extra weeks through no fault of Border or the RFD, (MIS- carriage):D / operator inadequacy @ transport end, ..... stains- less semi BBL, threaded 18/1, recessed crown, cut 1 in 8 twist, throated for 69 grain bullets .......... scope still languishing in the States though  , can't shoot in yet as I still need to make up some rounds for it!

Well after much chivvying from Mike to start shooting it in, I relented & mounted a fairly cheap & cheerful 24mag Bushnell from it's hiding place at the back of the gunroom, this would suffice until the scope from the States gets in, after bore sighting off the top of the flat roof @ back of house, I asked Mike to fetch some 69 grain loads with him, (as he had some made up in brand new brass!!:D) Now't like cheek is thee, combining this exercise with a visit to one of his more southerly vermin shoots, we set up @ 115 yards lasered to a compliant rock, left behind by some glacier or other, as no moderator is fitted yet, it was quite a pleasing sound for a change! scope was found to be 16 clicks low & 6 too far right, this was soon put right & was followed by bullet on bullet, very satisfying, so it's on soak now, have high hopes of a very long reaching foxing stick.Plus Mike has three foxes less on the ground too, I could tell from the reports in the distance, he was enjoying his evening out...... result.

Just a further observation on this Border barrel,........... unlike all my other rifles, Sako included, I can get no blue residue from barrel foaming/plastic brush scrubbing etc, all I get is powder residue,........... must be one smooooth barrel.

Same as my .223

They do a good job at B-B and I hope you find a good tight load as easily as I did too. Cracking foxers.

Just compared this barrel to a brand new Remmy (Fireball) in the cleaning stakes, Border.... two minutes with a couple of patches, Pristine!,.... followed up with an hours soak with Wipeout just to re assure me that I am seeing the real deal here!, the Remmy on the other end of the scale......... I think I'll be collecting my pension by the time I get this bugger clean!;)

Found a cheap carbon cracker in Halfords,Wynn's fuel injection intake & carb cleaner, seems to have softened the black deposits quite well, pushing it out with a soaked patch, eight or so passes moved it, now on Wipeout foam for the copper.

I have 4 border cut rifled barrels and one archer. They all shoot tiny little groups and clean easily. I would not hesitate to buy another!!
They can sometimes be a little slow but what good riflesmith isnt?? I will try to buy British when I can and see no point buying American with the results that I get from the Borders.
Im very happy.

Just had an automated message from Lee, @ Border,We at Border Barrels would like to thank all our past and present customers
and wish everyone a merry Christmas and prosperous new year.

Next year we will be working even harder to give a faster turnaround. To
help with this, we have started and will continue to expand a stock of pre
rifled barrel blanks in popular calibres. The blanks can be contoured to
your choice of profile or one of our standard profile. The list is updated
often and can be found here,#################.
