New BASC qualification card

I have read that the BASC have introduced a new qualification card with your photo and DSC qualifications. It costs £15.00. I think that this could be a good thing especially with it being credit card sized, but what are peoples thoughts, and it is worth obtaining?

You can do all that at home and it costs you nothing but your time!

Personally i have never been asked for qualifications or proof that i am capable, all the land owners i have dealt with all wanted to know one thing -

Can i kill deer!

Or they could just provide with the expense of being a member

If this was necessary they could just use Passport cards like the construction and highways industries already use.

No need for their own system.

It would be far more useful if it could be combined with a plastic fac/sgc but I don't suppose that will happen within the foreseeable future, looks like we are stuck with antique paperwork originating from over 100 years ago!

Can I kill deer and what farmers do they know that I already shoot for? (Imagine the phone call goes something like "Is he an idiot?", "No", "okay thanks".)

That proof should have been put forward by DMQ alone and like other cards should be part of the cost. Just more money for BASC who now clearly run DMQ for there own profit.

I can’t agree more, BASC, who in my mind do little enough to push back on:

The current draconian Firearms licensing laws and procedures.

Fail too:

Promote ALL shooting sports equally.

This is a red herring.

Just a new method of earning yet more, and contributing no more.
