Help settle an ongoing conversation about the popular predator, Corvid, etc non deer culling calibres I’m having with a mate.

.222, every other chambering is irrelevant, for a varmint general purpose round that’s cheap/easy to reload and has laser accuracy there is no other candidate.
In second place is the humble hornet and that only looses out on range.

Many been my favourite over time and different conditions and places, all having their merits on the day.
Only ever used centrefire for serious use against fox’s both high and low ground, so for me anything that’s street legal and pleasant to shoot. Another factor been who is paying for ammunition at the time.
Last five years the flavour has been 17 rem as the horse for the course of an eve.

Except that the .223 cast the most votes by far so seems the most popular ;)

22 hornet zeroed 140 yards its point n shoot trajectory wise , 5.6 moa fv 10 mph 200 yards windages and 2 moa elivation 45 grain seirra, so not fantastic ballistics on paper but totally useable .
Remember though is like half the powder of say a 222 making it very suited for moderator use , you will get a very long barrel life and of course use up expensive powder and barrels very slowly
can load cast lead rounds for .22 lr or 22 wmr velocities or send a 45 grain jacketed round 2800-2900 fps
great for denning foxes without alerting the whole parrish
Just a pity its not legal for our smaller deer , i feel it would be absolutely ideal for this use especially muntjac in small plots of land

Sako AI Hunter in 222, 6x42 Kahles
Sako AI Varmint in 222, 16x40 Leupold Mark 4.

And a Tikka T3 Lite Stainless 223, S&B PMII 10x42, in McMillan A-3 stock for poor weather.

Has Putin organised this vote as well because the individual calibre votes don’t tally with the total votes cast.
It allows multiple votes per person, that's why.
Although how there can be multiple answers to a question that asks the calibre of your main rifle (singular, not plural) for the stated purpose, I don't know.

Got to say I struggled with a honest answer as devil in detail, bit like asking blondes, brunettes, or other really.

Pretty safe bet the 223 was going to win, if question asked early seventies perhaps 222 and hornet, eighties 22/250 or 243, into and past the naughties the ascension of the 223 been pushed by uk gun shops and sporting press for numerous reasons and now so many choices between various age groups.
Wonder when the question will be asked, what was your favourite caliber, when we could.........🤷‍♂️
