BASC response to England Deer Management Strategy consultation

I put this up as so many members in the south east have no perm and would love the chance to shoot deer.
We keep getting told they need more control as numbers rising but if every one was given a chance this would help lower the numbers.

The problem with that idea is as follows-

1- reliably
2- trust
3- the ability to kill deer!

This is my personal point of view-

the need for killers not stalkers, there is a massive difference between the 2, there are those who can and those dream they can.

I only trust 2 people who help me and they have been reliable friends for over 15 years, to the point they are even named on all my permissions

I totally agree with all three comments the people on our syndicate are all of the above . But as we have all read on this site you get some back stabbing to faced people. (but we need to trust others)

What would help is payment per deer and a system similar to the interview for becoming a contractor up north. Deer managers need a chance to show there worth and a strict qualifying process would help weed out the pretenders. If there was a payment per deer or a comunial chill it would be clear who was reaching the standards expect and who was not. This could then be reviewed after each season.
