Well done to the officers involved in this - getting it to court being a pretty big hurdle

Though I suspect bettween now and the next court appearance there may be an increase in activity north Lancashire / south Cumbria

Trio accused of killing deer by standing on them to allow dog attacks and by slitting their throats with knife

Three men are due to appear at Lancaster Magistrates’ Court charged with illegally killing deer and causing them unnecessary suffering by either standing on their throats to facilitate a dog attack or cutting the animal’s throat with a knife.

Let’s hope they get a stiff sentence and send out the right message to anyone who would consider unlawfully killing animals.

This is something that has been advocated by many stalkers for dispatch of not quite dead deer….. not wanting to start a bun fight but I think it is important to consider the implications of any actions we take and consider how it could be viewed by others.

In that case, I hope anyone holding the same opinion is against all forms of 'Out of Season' and Night License deer control.

It's a fact of the matter that you need to get your hands dirty when dealing with such situations, and a good dog often ends the situation quicker than a person can.

I think Lancs police are having a big push on rural crime. They are frequently patrolling round my way and even put some cameras in the fields to I assume stop coursing. They had a white van pulled over the other day with some folks with long dogs outside plus a few response vehicles in tow.

well done, we lost a local wild stag to a similar incident the carcase was just left to rot!

Sadly it hasn’t stopped them the same gang are out doing the same as they have always done.They just got fresh dogs and fresh motors and carried on regardless they genuinely do not care.

The police have done a great job, we just need the CPAs and the magistrates to step up now.
