That works GREAT for muzzleloaders where you can replace the touch-hole with a Zerk fitting/grease nipple. Not sure how to achieve the same on a breachloader, but I am sure where there is a will there is a way!Oh, and another way to do this is with a grease gun. Hydraulics being what they are...
I've never understood how folk get in such a mess with a muzzloader.That works GREAT for muzzleloaders where you can replace the touch-hole with a Zerk fitting/grease nipple. Not sure how to achieve the same on a breachloader, but I am sure where there is a will there is a way!
@MarinePMIPerhaps slugging your bore with a lead slug with a hole in the middle would work better?

Turns out one is too many...Jesus man, how many slugs do you actually need?
You're welcome.I never really understood what 'slugging a bore' was, now I am even more confused!
You did read my comment about starting up a business?Jesus man, how many slugs do you actually need?
There are easier ways to make fishing weights.You did read my comment about starting up a business?
There is a STRONG belief here that a very tight fitting ball is necessary, my flintlock absolutely needs the short starter (PRB from the Bess replica didn't though and that wasI've never understood how folk get in such a mess with a muzzloader.
First off the ball, patched or conical should be thumb start only, I don't know where all this tight loading combos and short starters came from.....and if you dry ball, trickle some powder in the breech and shoot it out.![]()
@MarinePMI
Never one to ignore hints, tips and advice, just spent ten minutes (freezing) down the shed, drilling holes in my balls. (no sniggering at the back)...

Why, when this new 'improved' version of the 'slugging ball' is deployed (along with the inbound brass rod) it can't fail.

Perhaps it is time for me to think about offering 'slugging' as a business, to those less gifted on SD, and take out TRADE Membership?

Sounds more like your barrel needs crowning correctly and the bore lapped.There is a STRONG belief here that a very tight fitting ball is necessary, my flintlock absolutely needs the short starter (PRB from the Bess replica didn't though and that was). I should qualify that my flintlock is cheap garbage that just snapped a second mainspring
it is interesting that the British Army's first issue rifle (P1776) was issued with a small mallet for ball starting, so the idea isn't total 21st century limp wristedness!
Probably via their own appEventually speak to a human. They will try and resolve the issue, and hope to do so within the next ten days.
