Just an update to my previous post on Renewals in Met.
Had a phone call last week ..this is Met police officer..would it be possible to come round and have a chat with you re.your suitability to hold a Fac cert!
I of-course i obliged as he insisted in popping round that very afternoon it will be only 20/30 mins, he stayed about 45 mins.

Upshot..
He was an absolute Gent and asked rather a lot of questions..some not even i was fully aware of,in general chit chat I showed him my text of shooting tallies and he immediately got his phone out and snapped pics ..his reply that’s exactly what I’m looking for to see that I genuinely need my firearms, even showed him my shooting buddy (stuffed) Buzzard my decoy got them crafty Corvids..he approved!

I’ll however add he refused the offer of hot tea/Coffee but was very helpful in the assistance of the renewal and actually gave me his direct contact details! Really nothing was to much for me to ask.

I was taken aback as he told me my cert was closed..it’s actually been open for the last 10 years..he wasn’t so well versed/aware/checked as he said you can’t shoot anywhere except what permission I had on the paperwork

On the whole my belief now is that our Firearm’s dept at the Met are very pro active and very helpful even though the funding just isn’t there!

Could it be ..Met are monitoring the shooting Forums..hmm

Unless youve posted something untoward it may just be someone stirring and they are checking up.

I wouldnt be surprised if more authorities do more follow ups no matter how trivial the matter after the D&C short comings being in the news.
 
Nope I don’t remember posting anything remotely that’s controversial..that I can genuinely remember.
 
So am I right in thinking this

This was a call out of the blue to check your suitability?
Did you make him give a reason for this ?

He made your cert closed and you think he’s being super helpful?

Did you demand he makes the cert open as it has been for ten years ?
 
Nope you’ve got me wrong..
He thought my cert was closed..I merely corrected him that infact it’s been open for over 10 years and he accepted that!
More so a mate whose certificate is also up for renewal at the same time got in touch with him and was also told
He was going to call him to discuss his renewal too.

I had a phone call recently from a chief constable in my area . He was checking up that his team had actually been in touch re a new FC application. He said he was checking up to see if they were doing what they said they had done. Impressive I thought. It just so happened that I was just home after taking said gentleman out stalking. I told the chief that I was already very impressed with the guy. He then said that he was pleased he phoned when he did and that he would have no problem signing of the FC. J
 
Looks like our firearms team are up to speed then
Very impressed so far with my area I’ve got to say.
