Forestry training fund…

The BDS are now listed as a supplier, you will need to apply directly with the FC for funding.
PM me with your details if you want to put your name down to attend any the currently listed courses or would like us to run a course local to yourselves if enough interest.

PM sent Nick 👍

I believe I applied for 3, approved for First aid + forestry and HAD online with Jelen, can’t remember what the third was but approved for the other 2, I believe applications now need to be for 2024 after the funding quickly ran out for this year

Well, if you can find a course you want to do after April 1st next year you can put in for that.

Problem is, not many providers will put out a course schedule that far ahead...

Does anyone know.......if you live in Scotland will you be able to access a grant for a course in England? 🤔
Doubt it. The Forestry Commission as was has now been split into four bits - one for Scotland, wales, england and northern ireland. They each now a devolved funded entity, so what happens England is not now the case elsewhere.

And they all seem ti change names and rebrand every couple of months.

It does say they will contact if successful or not so hopefully lack of contact is just from them having a lot of applications.

I did two application a week or so apart. The first one has been granted but not heard about the 2nd yet, fingers crossed

I got funding for sit astride atv, and they kindly extended to sep 23 as Im away during the only course before end FY22-23.

But not heard on any more, except that they are exceptionally busy and are working through FY 23-24.. fair enough.

The providers seem to be a bit annoyed its not focused on forestry per se, with many people ‘who dont need it, applying-when it should be for upskilling new entrants to forestry’. Well, they may have a point, but 700,000 was never going to go far.

Hi Nick,
Any chance of something in Essex? Will you be putting some dates for 2024 now that no earlier funding is available?
On a separate note Wild Game Meat Hygiene Assessment is separate from DSC1 on your course, any idea if FC would cover the whole package or is it just for the DSC1 element of it?
Thanks in advance!

Did you put in 3 separate applications or can you ask for multiple courses on one form. I am thinking of DSC 1&2

I put in 3 applications for 3 courses. Got 2 out of 3 so far though guessing the 3rd is gone.

Scrummy

I’m looking at dates for the Royston venue, (400 meters from Essex) for April next year, I’ll message you as soon as I have the dates.
