Hi everyone..apologies for not being around recently ..illness and work commitments have kept me away from the web ....

Just asking if anyone can assist in locating parts / accessories for savage rifles? I have been informed that savage are no longer imported into the uk...at least via the official channels.
I am trying to get hold of a one piece weaver or picatinny rail for a savage 110 in 243win manufactured in 1991.The receiver has a flat surface to the rear and a round surface to the front where the scope bases fit. I am in the process of updating to a new scope but it has a slightly shorter tube..so the existing two piece weaver bases will not allow for shorter tubes...and I have tried turning them around but still no go.

I have been I contact with SAVAGE in the USA and they have advised that they cannot export parts...They recommend EGW...but they cannot export...Brownell UK have the rails in their catalogue but its out of stock and they dont know if it. will ever be available
Edgar Bros have given me a WEAVER part number of WEA- 48425 but no one has this in stock in the UK ( very tired after several hours of searching the web / email etc )

So if anyone has a one piece weaver rail as per the above part number or a picatinny rail suitable for my old savage I would be very grateful other wise its time for the scrap yard......

thanks in advance.

They recommend EGW...but they cannot export.

EGW supplied a Picatinny rail direct to me three or four years ago. ITAR restrictions have been much reduced and many firms that said 'US only' have now resumed foreign deliveries - unless the Ukraine war has seen new or reimposed restrictions in the last year.

Edgar Brothers has been the UK savage importer for the last 10 years or so, and their website still shows the current Savage range.

email from Mcavoy Guns ( UK ) ;-

''Thank you for your enquiry,
Unfortunately the Savage importer no longer brings them in and no one has taken over the distribution of them in the UK. We are unable to help on this occasion.
Regards''

Yes, but if you enter Savage Arms you get 24 savage rifle models. :-|

Savage Arms Products - Edgar Brothers

So, I went to the main US Savage website to see who the UK importer is - and the UK isn't listed. The nearest distributor is in the Republic of Ireland.

It looks like either Edgars dropped Savage recently, or Savage dropped Edgars, but the latter hasn't fully updated its website.

Alan Rhone's Rechnagel rails and mounts page lists a rail for Long Savage action which I don't will fit your and Weaver / Picatinny twin bases for the Savage 110.

Alan Rhone Ltd - Reckangel | Rails & Bases

I've bought rails from Alan Rhone before by Rechnagel and found the former's service excellent and the latter's products good. Might be worth trying that route.

I'm wondering if perhaps the Savage dealership just became a little too high maintenance for Edgar Brothers and not worth the trouble. :-|

While Savage rifles have a very good reputation for accuracy they do seem to be a bit or miss as regards their quality.
I personally know of one chap who had issues with a bolt on his Savage target rifle and had to get the parts sent from the U.S. as Edgar's couldn't supply him, and also another two who returned their new .17hmr rifles to the suppliers and had them replaced due to problems with the rifles. In one case the shooter opted for a CZ instead and says that it may not look much but is a far better rifle.

I wonder if export / import rules had become too complicated .. and the ''market forces '' may have also dictated the split etc

I had to source one from America a few years ago.. cant quite remember where from although I think it was through brownells

FWIW, Rimfire Savages' are made in Canada, not at the main plant in Massachusetts. ~Muir

Have you tried one of their European distributors? I had some parts sent from Germany a while ago and it cost a bit in tax, or cheap flight walk to shop cheap flight back…… £30 return flight to Germany or Holland and a day out 🤣🤣
