What are the bad points about the Blaser R8?

Sorry I was being a computer illiterate F***wit and didn’t mean to post that. The way my addled mind was working was whether the higher grade “pretty” rifles had a different grade of finish to the metalwork than the professional grades but that seems unlikely as the spare barrels seem to be the same finish. Apologies for my muppetry!!
Ha no worries I assumed it was that.

Only used one for a day, very accurate 1050 yds 6.5 284 and 6.5x55
Obviously I would not shoot animals at this distance but after dialing in, hitting a 4 inch circle was easy.

You can do that with an £100 Parker hale

  If you had asked about a Tikka or Sako your arse crack would have been the cleanest on the net, but you mentioned the Blaser word and even those who have only lifted one in a shop or show will tell you don’t go there.
Well my 10/22 with RWS hp subs will do all you need at a fraction of the cost but won’t sit well with any lawmakers.

Hi guys just reading about Blaser rifle not holding zeroing ! Just having that problem with mine ! Any remedies thanks

Rich people just seem to love em. I love my Tikka light, think I’ll just stay in Poverty Hall. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Me too. My Tikka T3x in .223 and Mauser M12 in .308 do everything I need (and really accurately) all for less than a Blaser stock, trigger unit and one barrel.

I guess I’ll stay in Poverty Hall with you.

Must admit, I could have been tempted to an R93 and replaced all my rifles with just it and three barrels. Handled and shot one and liked it. The newer R8 I've also shot in Thumbhole stock version. Didn't much like the stock and the whole thing felt like Blaser had been on a cost cutting exercise compared with the R93. I just can't see past that price tag for something you can get with equal or better quality in something like Schultz and Larsen rifles (which you can also buy interchangeable barrels for). I'd save myself the cash and if going that route would look at a good used R93 or buy a S&L victory .

I’ve seen a Parker Hale do 1000 yds and I have also seen a Blaser do 2” at best at 100, then my rust bucket, Ruger stuck a 5 shot group inside of the Blaser group, then told my mate who owned the gun “ that was £3K wasted wasn’t it?” 😂😂😂😂
I’m not a blaser fan by any means but I will say one thing, maybe your mate just needs to get better at shooting? 🤣

I’ve seen very accurate blasers, I own very accurate ‘normal’ bolt actions that will beat them in accuracy, but if they tickle your fancy why not - I’m sure you could probably do what you do with your expensive fishing rods with a much cheaper option!

If it makes you smile that’s worth something too.

Ben

If it was me i would be looking at a second hand r93 they selling for circa £1500. I like the idea of a blaser but too steep for my pockets.

Make sure the bedding block in clean anc oil free

Oil on that block will cause POI variation. I know.

I worked out how oil was accruing there: the last patch pass through the barrel before storage is Ballistol Waffen Oil. If the patch drags the lower lip of the chamber, a tiny amount of oil is flicked under and eventually migrates forward to the bedding block. Probably whilst stalking. It only takes a thin film...

The solution is the use of a good bore guide. I use a precision engineered aluminium+O-ring solution from the Shooting Shed.
