We'll know the death knell for ice vehicles is upon us when supermarkets stop selling petrol and diesel

According to this, there are over 180 different makes and models of ev cars and vans available in the UK

I just dont believe the infrastructure will be in place in time for a gradual switch over, nor the production.

It'll get pulled in a few years time.

EV’s , worthless after 10 yrs of use.
I doubt they are even “green” when taking into account the environmental impact of mining and battery manufacture.
Even if UK achieved so called net zero impact on planet almost nothing compared to China, India etc. Unless we expect those countries to tell their populations to stop expecting increasing better standards of living, good luck with that.

Current rate of copper extraction is no where near enough to meet the predicted EV demand if UK and EU ban on ICE actually happens. The Eco Zealots have not done the whole sum. But loads of them making a nice business class flight living out of pedalling their snake oil.

An auto club in Germany that claims 21 million members ran some controlled charging test electric vehicles to see how efficient that process was. The results put another nail in the value coffin. Not only are they expensive to buy and own, but the average charge also wastes up to 13% of the electricity.
Put another way, the consumer is charged for all the electricity required to fully charge the battery, which is as much as 13% more than the battery can hold.
So, imagine pouring two gallons of gasoline on the ground every time you filled a 20-gallon tank. People would lose their collective minds. But that will be standard for every charge of every vehicle in the utopian electric fleet of the future.
ADAC’s Ecotest calculated the kWh needed to fully charge a range of electric vehicle batteries.

With electricity prices scheduled to double in New Hampshire (as an example) and with the cost of EVs still out of the range of most middle and lower-income families, throwing money out the window with every charge might just as well be another tax.
Line loss or transformer loss is baked into the infrastructure. There is no way to transmit electricity without waste (primarily) in the form of heat. Anywhere from 8-15% or more of the electricity generated by power stations is lost before it gets to you. A carbon footprint problem we’re supposed to ignore.
But not in the ADAC tests. The consumer pays immediately for the loss of every kWh that exceeded the actual electricity needed to charge the battery.

Transmission lines are expensive and old. 10 amp plugs are going to cut it for fast charging and every substation is going to have to be upgraded to handle the load.

Everything is possible but the problem is people aren't told the true cost of transition.

For the past two years I've been making cooling pipes for huge V20 diesel and gas gen sets.
They are being installed all over Britain by the thousands.
They have thirty year plus life expectation. Most have no emission control measures.
They are being rushed into operation to prop the grid up now!
Huge internet servers have to use them because the grid is not reliable enough not big enough.

The messages on this forum is most likely happening via DIESEL power and not a freaking useless wind mill joke and certainly not solar because it's still dark out!

Countering the laws of physics with idylls and dreams does not work.
Scaring the masses shitless does, and produces wonga!

Now, what were the stats on co2 released from volcanos again, I just forget but the one in Iceland that grounded all aircraft iirc released as much as the industrial revolution or something like that.

When are people going to wake up and smell the coffee.....
