Bendy Crappy larder saws

I use one of these, solid blade that is steerable! Handy for doing the ribcage.
I agree. I've never got on with expensive "larder" or "butcher" saws - too big, hard to clean and dry, bordering on unhygienic. A basic wood saw with a solid blade and fine teeth count is much better.

That may intended way ,but the OP complained of the bone saw blade bending
while trying to cut, the blade may bend if you have the teeth facing forward but it won't if you have have them facing back and cutting on the pull stroke much.more controllability.
Also if using it in the field or even in the larder any debris is pulled away from the carcass rather than pushed into it.
Have been using a 17.5 inch kamlock for forty years always with the teeth facing back
even use it to cut trophies ,they say a bone saw is not suitable for cutting trophies as it won't cut straight it will if the teeth are facing
back cuts cleaner with no bending or sticking.
Fair enough mate. I use the same kamlock..I m a carpenter and joiner so quite keen on saws.🤣

Made the same mistake, looked ok til went in the dish washer,
Now have 3 atlanta saws, two 18” and a 20” for beef
Used weekly, blades are always in unless in the dishwasher, and come out like new, not rusted up as previously
Following up on your link, it says the saw blades are carbon steel - I'm very surprised that they are not rusting up in the dishwasher? I've dismissed these as I was looking for a stainless steel version.......................

Thanks all for your replies…. I‘fe been AWOL from my own thread!

Will get i touch with you Dave @lochty re-saw blade.

Been using these saws for years without much bother, just most recently finding the blades to be crap. Also the fact that the little pins fall out of the blades does my f’’’’’ing head in!

Mine are definately stainless, been through the dishwasher countless times and look brand new, although these are now a few years old and seen the carbon ones you mention now for sale, they rust up after the first pass through the dishwasher
These might be worth a shot
