Stalking Show 2023

Good show generally picked up a pair of lowa boots off monarch for a fair price cried paying for a new blaser sling but you can’t take it with you 😀 did feel a bit underdressed in a pair of jeans and a t shirt will return next year might break out the tweeds👍

For those that didn’t make it some pics from the show. I think it was better than last year, certainly a lot more people than last year. All stands were pretty much all to do with stalking or shooting. Great to see Fierce Arms from Canada there, they make great rifles albeit a tad expensive. The Wild Kitchen demos were great especially Jose Souto and Rachel Green breaking down a deer carcass from in the fur to on the plate, was informative and enjoyable. Let’s all support this show and keep it going.

Staggered by the apparel of some visitors wandering around in waterproof smocks, 11” high boots and even one guy in full Loden complete with a roe sack - WTF🤷‍♂️ Got there early but when I left it was rammed with too many dogs being hauled around, confused and uncomfortable - spoilt it for me somewhat😏

There is a firm offering best dressed on the day. I kid you not.

Almost forgot to mention the Stag calling competition was great fun with some really good callers. The competition was won by a young lad about 9 or 10 years old. The judges bailed out a bit by letting the audience cheers decide the winner after a “call off” of the final two. There was only going to be one winner.

They asked if guys would dress for the field when attending! there was a prize for the most hot and sweaty knackered looking stalker in the show.

Because I have been mithering over buying a pair for the last 2 years and I so feeeeel your frustration with that stand:mad:
I went yesterday with £500 burning a hole in my pocket to buy some and just got fobbed off with the same old BS as last time. so I’ve decided I’m not going to bother now which is a shame as I already own 3 other pairs of there other boots so didn’t actually need any I just fancied some. If there level of service is like this now can you imagine if you had a warranty problem.

And that was very disappointing IMO. There's no point having a competition when they have clearly decided that a kid (who wasn't very good and sounded nothing like a red stag) will win. It will surely put people off entering in the future? The prizes were a choice of a Pulsar thermal spotter or Swaro Binos! A six year old would have been happy with a bag of sweets!

Shitty attitude, that kid will remember that forever, I’m pretty sure 95% of the attendants to the show already have binos and can buy a thermal. Bringing on the next generation is so important.
You should have come forward at the show and voiced your opinions in front of everyone if you felt hard done by.

And they will surely be available to purchase on the Klassifieds very soon!

And voicing my opinion have have gained what exactly? If you're advertising a competition then run it fairly or not at all. Ive got money but I still do the lottery because I would like some more! If I found out that the winner of the lottery was fixed then I would be pretty ****ed off, wouldn't you? I'm sure the kid's dad also had binos and a thermal but that's who will be using or selling it now! And before anyone says that the crowd decided on the winner, the organisers picked out the 2 finalists. The best caller and a 6 year old kid!
I might take a baby next year and get it to gurgle into the microphone? Surely I will have to win?
